hi, lately in my quest to try and get interested in the slightly more obscure sports and games of those sports, i stumbled across the AFL live series from australia.

i got afl live 2, and as with all ps3 games, its fine, region free and works and downloads patches, same as a us game, NCAA football for example.

however, i cant for the life of me buy the dlc that they released the other day to update the game to 2014 rosters and various other additions.

ive tried...

psn card, but it wont let me use a uk one on an australian psn profile (which i had to create anyway in order to see the dlc in the store)

paypal wont let me add funds to wallet either.

and visa card wont work either.....

kind of stuck, any other ideas?

Sorry, but you may be out of luck on that one unless you can re-bind that PS3 to an Australian account somehow...

I experienced the same frustration in trying to buy Persona 2: Eternal Punishment which isn't available in Europe :/

righto, thought so,

what would your thoughts be on buying an australian psn card from fleabay (just seen one on there) would that work to top up my wallet do you think?

I don't know, I personally wouldn't risk my money trying to work around Sony's region locks :(

Yeah, thats probably about the best advice ill get to be honest.

ah well, shame.
the one major drawback of ps3 games are the games disk themselves are region free but sometimes some dick publishers set forced ip region locks on the dlcs , meaning which for the dlc just having that corresponding region psn account is not good enough , your ip must match as well.
for most of the other dlcs just using the corresponding region psn account works.

THQ made me suffer with the same thing on wwe12 , the disc would play fine but could not activate the online pass since it was ip region locked to usa only , dumped the game back

Yes, if you buy one of those pre-paid PSN cards it SHOULD work. At least it has always worked for me. I have an US PSN account and i subscribe to PS+ and buy stuff on that account through pre-paid cards (i usually purchase them from Amazon). Using my credit card or using paypal doesn't work for me either. We do have a brazilian PSN, but it's ridiculous compared to others (we didn't even have PS+ until the PS4 was released).

As far as i'm aware, PSN doesn't use IP-blocks, they just check your billing address. Microsoft, for example, does have IP-blocked games that you can't download unless you use a proxy.

cool, cheers for that bud, i think i may take the plunge and get the aussie card on fleabay, give it a shot. i thought in theory theres no reason why that shouldnt work, as it seemed the only other option. the uk one i bought worked on my uk psn account, but not this aussie one id set up so it seemed the logical solution.
so, just as an fyi, in case anyone is interested etc.

it worked.

i bought the aussie psn card, and using my "aussie" account (basically another account i made from here in the uk, but saying it was in australia when i created it) i was able to put the money in my wallet, purchase the dlc, download and play it.

it also plays through my proper uk log in too, so i guess once purchased and installed there is no form of region lock.

im happy it worked.

i dont play my ps3 so much now after i got the ps4, but games are still limited for the newer console, and especially the more obscure sports. (well....obscure for the uk)
I had a US account and I can buy stuff with my italian debit card.

There's a simple option, anyway: buying a pre-paid card, redeem the credits on the account you use to buy stuff, and you should be ok. Can you grab free things with that account?

EDIT: I saw now the last post. Epic fail for me :D
