Aliasalpha: ...and we'd be overall winner since japan & sweden who won the different categories were only moderately ripped off in the other one.
I think you just pissed off all the Swiss and the Swedes here. It's not Sweden, it's Switzerland ;-)
His store price is slightly wrong for iTunes music. Most new tracks in the store cost 200 yen, not 150. So that's actually around 2.40 USD per track regardless of whether it's a + (DRM free track) or regular DRM infested track. (Looking at the current top 10 chart (singles) for Japan only 2 songs are priced at 150 yen).

Ooh shit, you're right. I stand corrected and slightly foolish
Will there be cake on the 50th australia-got-gobbled-again thread? Pretty sure it's coming up.

Who needs the swiss and the swedes anyway. Damn neutrals. With enemies you know where they stand, but with neutrals, who knows!?

It sickens me.

Well, you know that neutrals won't resist you, or your enemies, when you want to bank your stolen gold and works of art with them.

doccarnby: That is pretty fucking awful. Although, why is Mexico cheaper? I'm not sure I understand that. Though I'm pretty sure my proudly Mexican-descended brother would jump on that as proof that Mexicans are better.
Probably because the Mexican government hasn't signed a law taxing the hell out of electronic music. They already tax the hell out of us on everything else...

There's a reason why I SMUGGLE GAMES into the country. Because FUCK paying $65 USD for a $20 Greatest Hits PS2 game.

What's all this mess on the floor... oh... it's your musical credibility :-)

Midnight Oil was an amazing band.

As was The Church, my other favorite Australian export.

Amazing, for lack of an alternative. As soon as they played on Saturday Night Live, every station EVERYWHERE was playing "My Country" 24/7. At least it gave me a temporary reprieve from REM. My god, has anyone noticed how Stipe looks a little like Garrett?

First, there is no shortage of great Australian exports... AC/DC, The Easybeats, INXS, the absolutely amazing Nick Cave, the Divinyls, the Hoodoo Gurus, Mental As Anything, Hunters and Collectors, Icehouse, the Triffids, Dead Can Dance, Radiators, a hundred bands I'm forgetting, and most recently, The Vines (who rock six ways to Sunday)

Sure, they gave us The Little River and and Air Supply but after all the musical shame the US has inflicted on the Earth (starting with Ke$ha and going through everyone who every was on American Idol), they can be easily forgiven.

But now you are trashing REM... An Athens, Georgia band... a land which delivered The B-52s, Drivin-n-Cryin, Guadalcanal Diary, Matthew Sweet, Dreams So Real and Love Tractor, Drive By Truckers, and Widespread Panic... and most recently, Neutral Milk Hotel.

What do you listen to? The Jonas Brothers? That's it... I think we need to step outside and settle this like men...

I trashed REM, not Athens. I lived in Augusta for a time, for cryin' out loud. And The B-52s is one of my favourites. Just because I bash ONE band doesn't mean I'm bashing the place they came from or every other band that came from the same place. I don't like Midnight Oil because their songs are thinly veiled liberal preaching. I don't like REM because Michael Stipe sounds like a strangled cat. I don't like most Japanese animation exports because every single damn line of dialogue is exposition of the line of dialogue that came before it. I don't like the Kalashnikov because the Soviets tried to jail or murder a large portion of my family. I don't like a lot of things that everyone else likes, sometimes for a valid reason, sometimes for a reason that only I understand. It's enough for me, and it should be enough for you. Why is it that everytime I say I don't like something that someone else likes, their first reaction is to try to convert me to their point of view? The more reasonable reaction is to say "Alright, if that's how you feel, then so be it".

To answer one of your questions, bands I like, in no particular order, are Aphex Twin, Tom Bailey/Thompson Twins, Ministry, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, KISS, Alice Cooper, Motley Crue, Great White, Guns n Roses, Megadeth, Rage Against the Machine, Scorpions, Twisted Sister, among others.

There's a lot of things to come out of Australia that I like, but I could never get a taste for Vegemite, or it's UK counterpart, Marmite. It tastes like eating a beef bouillon cube.
Wow thanks for the link. I honestly didn't realised that I get fracked over so much from Itunes. How fracking rude.

First.... I would give anything to discover that Aphex Twin and The Thompson Twins were in fact the same band.

Second, liberals preach because that is how you get the choir to sing. ( and by the way... what would conservative preaching sound like in a rock song? )

Third, you being a fan of Thrill Kill excuses your fondness for hair metal.

fourth, you diss one Athens band... You've dissed them all (Southerners take family ties real seriously... You gotta know that) :-)

Fifth... I've been playing this bassline for two hours now... Are you gonna play, or did I win the bass battle by default?

HOW CAN YOU SLEEP WHILE MY BASS IS BURNING?!?!

D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D D Da!

Why, are they that generic and interchangeable?

I dunno, but I'm not talking to him anymore about it.
A lot of it is probably to do with tax. But anything that discourages people from using iTunes can't be a bad thing.
