Really annoyed with the movies here, ie. Malaysia.
Rated for 18 years or older and they still censor sex scenes and vulgar words.
What's the point of rating movies in the first place?
Why would I have to pay full price movie ticket to watch a half-ass edited movie?

Aliasalpha: Might still be an idea though, only downside of it all is 1 dollar = 1 euro...

Won't that still be cheaper than what you pay in Australia right now? Also, there are other sources of games than Steam, you know. Why here in Denmark, we have them in shops :-D
But yeah, if you want really good gaming deals, you gotta go with the UK or the US. To too many companies, those two countries still make up the known world. Globalization my ass...

Fixed

prakaa: Fixed

Fixed wrongly, as it happens. He's referring to Steam's policy of pricing games in the US and Europe respectively, using the handy formula $1 = €1, which means that Europeans get charged a lot more for Steam games than Americans do.
It's apparently two assholes fucking everything up. Even a hundred Australians could literally and figuratively remove them from office. Do it already. :P

I was under the impression denmark was an expensive country to live in though that might just apply to Copenhagen. I can't complain about the state of gaming in the UK, I still wish some of the US gaming companys would look up what the first W stood for in www. Most the digital distributions sites end up having to have an UK section and we still have alot of regionally restricted games. Might be worse in european zones but I don't really know.

Thats also an option, do it mad max style for extra cool points.
Australian policy never fails to boggle my mind. How does a culture originating from banished criminals end up stricter than Canada's, a colony founded by fisherman and rebels?
Overcompensation I suspect.

Pfft, only if you're a moron and buy locally where you get the benefits of paying a higher price without the detriment of all that heavy extra value that you'd have to carry around.
Through a combination of principles and being poor, I buy wherever I can get stuff cheapest unless whatever I need is urgent.
Hmm, ideal situation would be to keep my current bank account alive if I move to another country, less fucking around changing all my online shopping details and the ability to avoid the euro issue on steam. Wonder if that'd be legal...

Yeah, when the hell did revolution and dissidence suddenly become "dirty"?
Stupid police states.
But hey.. A ban on semi automatic firearms, vague legislation that prevents freedom of speech, broadening censorship. Haven't we seen similar in recent history?
"When dictators come to power, the first thing they do is take away the people's weapons. It makes it so much easier for the secret police to operate, it makes it so much easier to force the will of the ruler upon the ruled. " - Ronald Reagan (I believe)

Thought he was referring to exchange rates...
Should we rename Australia "neo nazi land"? Put them in the axis of evil? =)
By the way, didn't Australia have problems with a certain leader in Australia before he was finaly beaten in a race 6 years ago?

Aliasalpha: Yeah but I was sort of planning to move there for a woman (a specific one rather than just the first one I saw) but that didn't really work out. Might still be an idea though, only downside of it all is 1 dollar = 1 euro...

Unfortunately you won't escape censorship even if you come here. We have our own system in place and apparently even courd has no jurisdiction over it so basically if your site ends on it for any reason, there's no way for you to get it off from the list ever again. I doupt it comes as a surprise to anyone but apparently most of the blacklisted sites have nothing to do with pedofilia it's supposed to censor. Fortunately the use of blacklist is not enforced yet (currently ISP's can decide wether or not to use it) but I'm sure they'll get to it at some point.

Andy_Panthro: Everyone should move to the UK, but we do have our share of nutters.
Witness this Guardian article from the other day (posted in the rather free-for-all comment section)

Rapelay? Jesus.
Anyway the Supreme Court in the US not too long ago decided virtual pedophilia was a-ok, so I guess virtual "adult rape" would be as well. Which is weird when you think about it since even a normal virtual consesual sex scene still gets massive hysterical media attention.
I am of the firm belief it should all be legal, ever single twisted piece of filth imaginable as long as no illegal acts are actually committed. Some of this stuff like Rapelay is disgusting and I would never play it, just like I would never speak in racist language, but I would fight to the death to protect the right to do so and that was a founding principle in the US.
