So let's take a quick poll. What game or series of games would you like for them to NOT touch??
Since they already necroed Fallout 3, their next target could be either Arcanum or, God forbid, Sysyem Shock.

I wouldn't mind a First Person Arcanum. Troika were looking into doing a Source-Engine based sequel (Yes, I know that does not equal FPS) before they collapsed.
Just as long as it's not an Oblivionised Arcanum, thus I'd be scared of Bethesda getting it.
System Shock is also a No.
In fact, ANY decent c/a/RPG out there is a No.

Despite the flaws of their recent games, they are good at what they do when targeting their audience.
I'm just no longer really part of that more 'mainstream' audience.

A first person Arcanum would work well....if it was made by the same people that made the first one.(and if they got some of the 3d artists from VTM:B to work on it....sorry but their art looks better than Bethesda's!!!!)
System Shock is my sacred cow. They need to keep their filthy paws off it.
Hell, Bethesda should stop making games. They've become .....decadent, for lack of a better word. They need to step the hell down and let someone else take over.

Not before they make a decent isometric, turn based RPG with good story themselves, Until then they should stay the hell away from any and all old time classic RPGs.

I do believe they already said that that is not what they do.....thus they will never make what you describe.

Their attempts into the "mobile/cell phone" platform may end up with some oldskool-esk games. Pity I'm one of those people who hunts out the most simple one I can find, I find the little mini-flash-light too much fluff. Just let me call someone, I don't need anything else!

Fallout 3 wasn't bad for me, it just wasn't what I wanted out of the series. If they can take an old series and make an awesome new game for it, more power to them.
By the way, I doubt they would be making a sequel to System Shock. The group that made the game may be part of 2K now, who also publishes Bethesda's games, but I doubt Levine's team would let anyone touch it. If anyone's going to make System Shock 3, it'll be Levine and his 2K crew.

If Levine were to make a 3rd SS, then more power to him. He just needs to keep it away from Todd Howard and Friends.....

Actually, I found the dialogue and story in Fallout 3 to be very amusing and well-written. If you're thinking about the endings, yes, they suck. Also, Operation Anchorage is a complete waste of time, as it turns Fallout into a complete shooter, which it shouldn't be. But I loved all the little things you could say to other people and how they would react. It was great to make fun of the sheriff of Megaton's hat, and see him react so viciously. It was also fun to make a little boy run away from home, to get a priest kicked out of the church, and to abuse the Ghoul barkeep.

I'll close the clubhouse door on my way out.

It still doesn't give them the right to muck things up, though.
