Has anyone ever been able to successfully get Deathkings of the Dark Citadel running on Doomsday (1.9.0 - beta6.9)? Even without using any addons (excluding having HEXDD.WAD checked off, obviously), and with all the control panel settings at default, I keep getting the following error:

Build line tables...
convertMap: Successful.
R_InitLinks: Initializing
PO_InitForMap: Initializing polyobjects.

Rend_RenderSkyHemisphere: Sky layer without a material!

So no one plays Hexen anymore?

I play it from time to time but why would you ever want to use the Doomsday engine when you've got the ZDoom engine?

(Still keeps the game original without the horrid 3D look but with nice lighting, free mouse look, high resolutions etc etc)

That's my preference, which isn't for you to question or demean. Seriously, that's the stupidest question anyone ever asks: "OMG! Why do like that when it's so much worse than this?" Well obviously I don't think it's worse, or I'd have asked about finding something better. And don't say "horrid". It's not a real word. It's just some trumped-up patois used by uppity women to make themselves sound "dainty".
What is a Snowberry?

Or you can save me time, and just answer my question. I googled "Snowberry" before asking you and after looking through 2 pages of results, I did not find anything capable of playing Deathkings of the Dark Citadel.

I think you're too quick to judge - you may have misinterpreted SillyHollow's intentions. zdoom seems like something you'd be interested in, so it's perfectly reasonable to mention it. Also, that question strikes me more as a toungue-in-cheek reference to the content of the linked page than critical of preferences. Click the link and take a look.

According to Google, Snowberry appears to be a type of berry, or a ski hire outlet, or one of several health and beauty facilities. I still have no idea what it has to do with Hexen.
Snowberry is the official frontend of the Doomsday Engine. It is a portable graphical game launcher, with support for configuring the various types of games supported by Doomsday. It makes it easy to save your settings for launching a particular game (e.g., Doom), so you don't have to type in a lengthy command line every time you start a game.

But it really would've been cooler if he'd just answered the question, in my opinion (not so humble) people that say "Just Google it" are just as annoying as people that say "RTFM!!@#@".
Don't immediately assume somebody is too lazy to look it up.

Thanks for the answer. :)

You presume he read the OP and not just the title. I did mention Doomsday in the post itself. A simple search for "Snowberry Doomsday" would yield results for the software and not the plant. It's not so much "RTFM" as "If you have to ask, you shouldn't be here". I need help from people who are intimate with the software, not questions from people who don't know what I'm talking about.

Now, you've all wasted a whole page of a thread arguing about source port alternatives and definitions, and still no one's offered up a solution to my problem. Why can't Doomsday render the same sky that's used in Deathkings as in Hexen proper?

Exactly, thanks I didn't mean anything by it...

You're a troll and a smartass.

Look at it from my point of view, folks. I don't have a lot of time to fuck around explaining things to people who can't help me anyway because they don't know what it is I'm talking about in the first place (i.e. If you don't know what Snowberry is, then you already know a hell of a lot less than I do about the problem I'm having with it, and you shouldn't be posting in a support request thread about it). I didn't ask for alternatives, I asked for help with the program I chose to use. So you're a ZDoom fanboy, good for you. I'm a Doomsday fanboy, and I need help from other Doomsday fanboys.

Stay on topic or shut the fuck up.

Dude, many times you ask questions then get all snippity when people give you answers you don't like. People offer alternatives, you chastise them. People offer solutions and you claim to have tried them already(sometimes it pays to try such solutions again as sometimes you may have missed a step in the proposed solution when you tried doing something yourself.....or the second time around might work better for some reason.) before also dismissing them.

If you want help you gotta be nicer about it and not all negative.....often this involves retrying things with new or improvised steps from what you previously tried if someone offers them as solutions, and thank even the people with little help to give.

Also even the people with little knowledge of a particular thing can sometimes offer some insight into problems you may be having or point you in the right direction so again be patient with them.

Possible solve: I know you don't want alternatives but seeing as Doomsday seems to be near abandoned it may be worth checking out the competition. This one is Doom Legacy and it was just updated this month.
