btw, for everyone playing X3: There are a lot of awesome mods and scripts to be found on egosoft's forum (http://forum.egosoft.com/index.php?c=2), e.g. lots of new ships/effects added, MUCH better scripts for freighters buying/selling goods for your factories, MUCH better turretscripts, etc

Hang-on, wut? if you buy it from GG you can still register it on Steam? Does that work with everything you buy from GG? If so I might be more interesting in buying their stuff if I can potentially take advantage of their deals AND still only have 2 DD sites to keep track of for my games!

I bought the X Superbox from GamersGate when it was the Deal of the Day. I made a Steam account months ago when Portal was free, but got disgusted with the client, uninstalled it, and don't intend to install it again. Is there a way for me to enter the X Superbox into my account and qualify for the free new X game without having to install the client again?

Hmmm, I got the Superbox on GG but didn't register it on Steam yet. If I activate it today would I get this new game?
Not that it matters that much. I mean, I still have all the rest to play through and I don't have a joystick yet (thou I hope someone will rectify that for Christmas :P), so it's not a big deal if I won't get the new game added.

Showed up in my Steam list after restarting the client this morning.

For people hoping for it to be very different - it isn't really. It is just an addon to the base X3:TC game that adds an overall War Plot [for Argon, Terran don't get a plot for some reason] or youc an use all of the standard X3 starts [with the War as a background feature/immersion adder]. There are no changes to the engine or much beyond adding some new ships, possibly sectors, and I think some new script packages.

X3 Rebirth will be the game to look forward to if looking for a completely new X experience [possibly].

That all said, AP is nice from what I have seen so far. The war plot starts throw you into the game pretty wel equipped and funded [Argons start w/ Argon Nova Prototype, 6/8 weapon bays filled, and 30k credits]. The main reason [that I can see] to get AP [or play AP if you have it] is to follow the plot line to its conclusion, as it is supposed to link up Rebirth with the previous X plot lines.

Not everything, but there's definitely a lot that can be registered.

It appeared yesterday on my Steam account. I used the X Superbox key from GG too.
Take into consideration that only those who got the X Superbox get this game for free. If you bought all X games individually you won't get it.

Checked the homepage and they want to release a disc version in february. There will be also a mac-version in apple apps-store, both will cost 10$. A free version you will only get with steam at the moment. I guess it's a special deal with steam to force the people to activate the superbox and bring the fanbase to steam. I really hope they will maybe someday add a drm-free version to the GG superbox.

I have the boxed version of Superbox and steering it clear off Steam, I also have the Steam version of Superbox which I'm using to get AP.
Sadly, they have not confirmed atm that the box version will not have Steam, yet. There's a chance the box version has Steam. Even though I'm getting it free on Steam, I have all intention to get the box version if it doesn't come with Steam, however if Steam is mandatory with the box version I guess I'm not getting anymore.

Yes, would be interesting to know if it's a steamworks game or just a pr-move (earlier release, free). They only say it's an add-on and you need the original game installed. I really hope it's just pr with the goal that many from the community want to play it now, create an account on steam and activate their superbox. Otherwise I don't see a reason why the new add-on should be free and released two month before the disc version.

Nope, I definitely have the full box. I bought the Superbox during the summer sale. Someone suggested that maybe they're not giving it free to people who bought it at a discount. That a) would be asinine and b) doesn't make any sense. One person said I didn't deserve it because I wasn't a true fan. That was funny.

It's still not added. I'm giving it until tomorrow before I contact support again.

Awesome. I have a boxed copy of the X Superbox. I'll have to look into that tomorrow.
