This beautiful May weekend we have on [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_strategies]sale a collection of strategy games straight from Atari. Until Monday, May 9th at 11:59 p.m. EDT you get a chance to grab the pinnacle of space strategy games Master of Orion 1 + 2 and the revolutionary Total Annihilation from Atari's catalog with up to a 50% discount. Grab or complete the whole mix with Master of Magic, Master of Orion 3, and last (but not least!) Total Annihilation: Kingdoms + Expansion for half the price or get your hands on selected titles from the offer with a 30% discount.

SLP2000: That's what promo sales are for - to bundle those games nobody wants with those everyone would by for a low price. It's not offensive, it's the essence of sales.

Zeewolf: Not a good strategy, though, because it usually results in me not buying anything instead of me buying the few games from these promos I'm sorta interested in. Whenever I remove the games I don't want, and see the prices go up, I think "sod it".
I totally agree, I have all but 3 and out of those I only really want Total Annihilation Kingdoms, and I don't want Orion 3 just to get a discount. 30% off for Total Annihilation Kingdoms I'll have to think about it, I suppose $4.19 isn't a bad price just not as good as $2.99

------
Second thoughts I'll get it, after all GOG did give me a free game this week that I did want and US $4.19 isn't that bad considering when I originally bought the game it was AUD $33.95. Imagine how much more money I'd have in the bank if I was more frugal back then.

SLP2000: Yeah, but marketing is not based on atypical behaviour.
I'm sure you'll admit that most people in such case would buy complete pack just for the price reduction sake.

And you could buy complete pack (it's still cheaper, right?) and then you can ask GOG to remove MOO3 from your shelf, that should do the trick.
Actually the whole pack without MOO3 is cheaper 0.19$ :) It is at least if you do not own any of the titles in the promo.
A good set of games here! I already had everything but Kingdoms and MoO3. I had a retail copy of Kingdoms, but never had the Iron Plague and was waiting for it to go on sale here.

I could have completed the whole set and gotten a 50% discount. Could've, but didn't. I now have all of them but Master of Orion 3. :P

I cannot recommend Master of Orion 1+2, Master of Magic, and Total Annihilation: Commander Pack highly enough, they're awesome games.

Total Annihilation Kingdoms, you might find some enjoyment out of it if you've played the original to death, but it's more a curiosity than anything. I never played the expansion, but the game isn't so much bad as it is not particularly good. It'll likely leave you wondering why you're not just playing Total Annihilation.

As for Master of Orion 3... well, just get Master of Orion 1+2 and Master of Magic. I suppose if an overwhelming majority of reviews and gameplay videos won't deter your curiosity, nothing will...
Maybe will buy Annihilation: Kingdoms + Expansion, already have the first one from GOG and the other games from the promo aren't much my cup of tea

I don't think it is atypical behaviour.

I don't think everyone goes "Yay! a chance to get tons of games I'm not interested in!" when there is a promo like this. I think they look at the promo and see what's interesting to them. If only a few games are interesting, they're not going to buy the whole pack. After all, quality is not the only thing people care about. They might not be interested in RTS-games, for instance, leaving only two good products in this promo.

And when they click away the uninteresting stuff and see the price go up, that has a pretty discouraging psychological effect.

hmm... I MAY end up getting this but wasn't there supposed to be another game released this week, or are we going to get The Witcher and something else next week now?
1st time ever I have all the games in the promo! :D

And then they add those unintresting games and get whole bundle for 50%, that's how it works.

If it wasn't working, GOG wouldn't do promo sales like that.

Not exactly on par with the other releases leading up to The Witcher but free is good :) So between then and now I'll probably end up rounding out my Total Annihilation collection and building anticipation for Witcher next week :)
Saving my bells this weekend.
Nice Promo. A these have been on my wishlist for awhile now. Well, no longer. Bought.
The biggest problem with Master of Orion 3 is that there's no Master of Orion 4 to help wash that horrible taste from our mouths.
Well...already have Master of Orion 1+2, only really interested in Master of Magic. Use to play it when I was younger. Will have a think about this promo before committing to it.
Master of Magic is a good game. Master of Orion 2 is a great game. Master of Orion 3 is not a good game. In fact, it's kind of amazing how bad that game is and how much it misses what made the second game great.
