It's this time of the week when everyone is happy for at least two reasons: it's Friday so the weekend begins and GOG is having another bargain deal on classic games! This weekend, until Monday, March 21 at 11:59 p.m. EDT, we're offering you an up to 50% off discount on selected titles from Atari's huge catalogue. How about grabbing One Unit Whole Blood, Blood 2: The Chosen, Independence War, Independence War 2 and Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, all for half the price! Buy all games or complete the promo pack and you'll get 50% off. If you want to buy only selected games from the offering, you'll still get a 25% discount. Check the [url=http://www.gog.com/en/promo/atari_games]promo page for all details.

stevef: (Intel Atom CPUN450) ok, i'll give it a shot. also, i've been spoon-fed w/ downloads to this point, for the most part buying from sites that provide installation link w/ download (game manager, install wizard, etc). does gog facilitate install w/ download or is it diy?
Once you've downloaded the game, you just start the installer and it installs everything, including DosBox, fully configured for the game. You only have to click on its icon.
I already own both I-Wars and I'm not interested in anything else from that promo - so I'll take a break this week.

got it. thanks all for your help -- this is one of the best-run forums i've seen
Own everything, duh.
Love package deals when it means 50-60% discount.
But to be consistent with past sales, this one really should be titled "Select Atari Games up to 50%" or "Atari Favorites up to 50%" or something to separate it from publisher pack sales.

"Atari games up to 50% off (....though most of them are 0% off)."

I already own the Blood games, I'm not interested in the War stuff, and Alone in the Dark... I have it on Dreamcast and PC. Hell, my PC copy is brand new, I bought it at a dollar store.

Sorry, guess I'll pass on this one. :)
It figures that Blood would go on sale the day after I buy it... I seem to be building a pretty good track record for that. It's like I'm developing a psychic subconscious. Subconscious: Blood is going to go on sale tomorrow. Conscious: I should buy Blood! I love that game! I wonder why I thought of it just now... Subconscious: Noooo tomorrow! Idiot! Conscious: Stabby stabby die zombies!

sorry guys, not a great deal. got alone in the dark. dont want blood, and indipendance war is not guaranteed to work with windows 7. YOU MUST DO BETTER
Great choice of games, but I already have it all but Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare. I passed on it during the holidays, I doubt I can be convinced to get it this time. In fact, I have every Atari game but Alone in the Dark, MoO 3, and TA: Kingdoms (Though I intend to get Kingdoms in the future, I have the original as retail and have never played The Iron Plague), so yeah...

Maybe the next week after the next week after the next! It's been a month since I bought a game on sale, but that's probably for the best!

I guess Alone in the Dark 5 or whatever it is might be worth $3. Hard to say no to that price, despite it's reputation.
Ooooh! So very tempting... Alas, the only games I'm interested in are I:War 1&2... Alas, I own two copies of he first and... At least one of the second... Something is pinging in the back of me brain to say I have more...

Mind you GoG giving a hefty difference in your offer is ohhh so tempting...

Finally: The Intro to I:War 1 is worth it in its own right. I remember it back in the day... A well produced 20 minute movie... Actually, if memory serves, thats all I saw till I upgraded me machine a few months later...

Smannesman: Oh man it's one of those messed up up to sales, I didn't even notice that.
For shame GOG, for shame!
I think that's probably the main problem that most people have with these kind of promo's

I bought the entire Atari catalogue for 50% off back in 2010 when I wanted every game anyway but to get that 50% discount I had to add MOO3 in my collection...

...oh god the pain...

Fuzzyfireball: If you don't already own Blood you're crazy!

CRAZY I SAY!
I've seen this type of thing said a few times here, and I never bought it because I don't think it looks that appealing ( and I think a lot of gog people are just downright crazy anyway)
But I am going to buy it anyway right now just to see if all this talk is true.

It better be good or you're in trouble buster
After a long time, a promo where I've got none of the games. Alas, I will pass. Blood and Independence War look intersting, but 25% discount is not enough to make me put more games in my very long "waiting to play" list.

Anyway, keep the promos coming!

I would be interested to know how you like the game. There is a huge number of rave reviews of Blood here, but I just don't get what people see in it. I actually played Blood back when it was first released and did have some fun with it. But when I look at it now, it just seems like a very primitive game that hasn't aged well at all (the same goes for Duke Nukem 3D imo). Is everyone suffering from a nostalgia-induced mass delusion, or am I crazy for not seeing why Blood is still a great game in 2011? Maybe I will have to buy it after all, just to see for myself...
