Ah, I've got the Darklands box on the shelf here:
System Requirements:
IBM 386, 486 and Compatibles
Requires: 2 MB RAM - Hard Disk - VGA Graphics
DOS 5.0 (or equivalent) - Mouse
Supports: IBM(r) speaker - Sound Blaster (tm) - AdLib (tm)
Pro AudioSpectrum (tm) - Roland(r) Sound
(c) 1992 MicroProse Software, Inc. 833.5 IBS 2
Came on 8 3.5" floppies (one of which was bad) and had to be patched several times to make it playable.
I think the final patch is version 1.4 or 1.7, and I downloaded it back in the MicroProse BBS days maybe late '92 or so. I racked up a $25 phone bill for my trouble.
So, what do I have in my Darklands box? The Red Storm Rising manual, of course [sad trumpet sounds].
Oh well, it'll turn up somewhere....
Red Storm Rising Box specifications:
IBM PC/XT/AT Compatible
Minimum 384K
Drive A mush be 5 1/4" (because it looked for copy pro hard coded to drive A)
Required: CGA (4 colors) or Hercules (MGA)
Optional: EGA, VGA, or MCGA (16 colors); Joystick
My comment on the Joystick - if you have to take to the Joystick to doge torpedoes, yer doin' it wrong.
Really, there wasn't much to the game, I believe it completely fit on a 360k floppy. As a matter of fact, I had a F19 and Red Storm Rising combo disk with a hack to use either the F19 location (Scandinavia area) or the F15 location (Persian Gulf area) on one fd-formatted (1.7M floppy) I carried around for fun. I had that and a second disk for Covert Action. That's all I needed for an afternoon of fun anywhere (so long as there was a computer with an HD 3.5" floppy. However, with the dated graphics of these old games, I cannot really see todays generation enjoying them, though. I still might buy them, just to see them on the virtual shelf.

Welcome Atari! :)
"Outcast, Master of Orion and Master of Magic..." = yay!
And Outcast modded (by fans) to work up to 1980x1200... O.O imagine that.

I wonder how they'll manage Outcast. Afaik, that game has major problems with newer OSs and pc hardware.

Oh wow, I hope this means we're one step closer toward D&D games. I never got to play ToEE (and all the others I played or still own, but of course I'll snag a digial, DRM free copy if I can!).
