This is what happens when you leak a pre-release copy of a game. What happened was this guy stole a copy of the game from the guys that were duplicating the discs for retail release and put it out on torrent sites and wherever fine copies of retail games can be found (that is, pretty much everywhere).
Well the long arm of the law reached out and grabbed him for the shadows of his evil, evil lair that the copyright organisations seem to think all pirates live in and he's been sentenced to three months house arrest, a $25,000 fine, and probation for five years. I'm pretty amazed that he got such a short term. Well, not really. Piracy's not drug dealing, after all. Do you guys think he got what he deserved, or he deserved more, or less or what?
i was faster ? :)

Ah, for a second I thought you were talking about Ubisoft. :(
Pirates: 999
Ubisoft: -2
I don't think he got punished for the "piracy" part, but more for the stealing-of-work-and-breach-of-contract part.
which is said in the article I think :p

Three months in a halfway house - I would love to take that vacation and get caught up on some games. ;-)
