michaelleung: I looked up the torrents for Ass. Creed 2 and.....

Dude you type that in and you might get a sodomy porno instead of the game..........
Hum, another version is up on the site I've mentioned earlier. Still in Russian, it seems....
It's cracked now using offline server...

Ubi Failed: It's cracked now using offline server...

It's only meant to work for a few days or weeks really, so by that measure they succeeded.

But at the same time they failed, when you consider that the DRM was so "good" that no one could play at first, which then created a huge amount of negative publicity for Ubi. So they stopped the pirates for a few days, but they also pissed off their loyal customers which I guarantee produced more "lost sales" than any cracked copy ever would.
anyone know the sales for PC Ass Creed 2?
Assuming 90% of players would have been pirates, but it was un-pirateable for all this time, it should have sold about 600% more than Ass Creed 1 pc. Right?

I think so too, yes.

PC sales are basically never reported, unfortunately.

I wonder what they plan to say now when it comes to -for their wallets- less than satisfying PC sales (which means, it didn't bring in a gazillion dollars).
-They can either -as usual- blame it on the pirates, which means they themselves admit the uselessness of their "superweapon" (as they called it earlier), which, in theory is 100% pirate-proof.
-Or, they can keep up the facade and say the DRM did work all right, but the game itself must have sucked if so few people bought it.
I have a feeling it'll be the second one, which will unfortunately lead to Ubi punishing the developers for developing such a "lousy" game...
Is this true that if the Ubi DRM is cracked they'll strip it off? Because EVERYONE says that but I have my doubts that's how nice Ubi is given that they've actually given this shitty DRM to us in the first place.

That's a lot of different developers to punish for their shitty customer deterrent then.

I think we all know it didn't sell that well. The best evidence of how well a game sells is how long it keeps its retail price. The Sims stayed at retail price for three years for example. Assassin's Creed 2 stayed at its retail price for ... less than a month. For a big budget game, this is unheard of. Red Alert 3 dropped quickly in price as well but only after a few months (due to limited activations). In other words, for a game to drop from £30 to £15 in a month, it has to be selling VERY poorly. Of course, with the price drop, sales are going up again (that's why they drop the price after all) but back when it was £30 on Amazon, it wasn't even in the top 100 of best selling games.
It is cracked today by Skidrow. Here is what they are saying, and it is true.
Thank you Ubisoft, this was quiete a challenge for us, but nothing stops the leading force from doing what we do. Next time focus on the game and not on the DRM. It was probably horrible for all legit users. We just make their lifes easier.

If it really is cracked now, I'll certainly consider buying the game...
... once it hits $5 in some deal.

Uhm, well, if Skidrow say so... Anyway I've news that someone completely emulated Ubisoft's remote server on the Italian version some days ago. But I can't confirm this by first-hand, nor I want to waste my precious bandwidth for this crap for the time being....
