michaelleung: Sixty bucks for a PC game? Where have I seen THAT before?

First dragon age awakening goes from 30 to 40$$.Now this.
The day i pay 60 bucks for a pc game is the day i die.... O wait i am [un]dead.
Fear me humans for i am a lich!
Assassin's creed 2 does look fun.
For i do like killing humans and then i reanimated there corpses.
May get the game after it drops to 30 or so.Yes i am cheaper then a bird. So kill me!

Yeah, much as I want it, I think I'll wait for a price drop...don't want to encourage this $60 thing, DLC or not. With a four month wait, it should probably be free...

$60 USD for a PC game? That's fucking cheap for some of us. When games are retailing at $100 USD for a standard edition, then you have a right to complain about being over charged.

Where I live, I'm easily spoiled by prices. Even MW2 costs $35 USD or so in retail. But I'll bet the shops will hike the prices for this game because they say the DLC makes it more expensive or some shit.

Modern Warfare 2 PC.
EDIT:
Though, AC2 PC comes w/ first two DLC's - which are around $4 each on the console.
MW2 PC comes w/ ZERO DLC.

Also, I can't believe Destructoid gave it a 4.5. It just solidifies in my mind that Destructoid's writers are even below the low, low requirements of what it takes to be a trustworthy blog writer.

They posted an article once explaining their reviewing process is about the "potential of the game". To them, Assassins creed 2 was 5.5 points away from it's potential. However, they killed their reasoning by talking about madden's always getting 9's.

I agree. Star trek online, Mass effect 2 are $60 for some exclusive item. That is too much unless it was an art book or sound track bonus.

I was being sarcastic. Maybe I DO need a SarcMark.
</sarcasm> There, you can use the open source alternative

Amen brother! MW2 (not that I'd buy shit like that) costs us$90 on steam for Australians and I imagine its not going to drop when our currency drops to 70% of theirs again
At least the PC will get Bonfire of the vanities & Battle of Forli so you get more content. From what I remember of the console special editions, the extra content in the black/white editions was a few templar tombs, sounds fairly missable.

As is usual for releases of Western games, all Japan got for AC2 is a jacked up price of approximately $80 USD and no special editions or DLC.
And I won't be bothering with the PC version for a very long time.

You see i have this crazy fear.... A new game would cost $50[for pc that is] ,been like that for years.
Now there trying to make it 60 bucks!
Sure its only 10 more bucks.Next its 70,80,90,100.
Yes it may never happen, that why its a crazy fear.

Ok, so I can't exactly remember whatever the terminology is, but hopefully you'll get what I'm going to ask.
The actual worth of money changes. Such that 100 dollars 50 years ago may actually be worth 200 or 300 dollars today (not an exact amount). Now you say games have cost $50 for years, so in effect they have gradually been getting cheaper as the actual worth of that money decreases. Such that although the figure you're paying has now changed to 60 and appears to be 10 dollars more than 50, the actual worth may very well be equal to the 50 you would have paid a few years ago.
So all that's happening in such a case is the industry evening out the cost of the game. But as the same denominations of money have been used for decades (possibly even more depending on the country), it would appear that the price is going up simply because the numbers change.
I'm sure someone more knowledgeable in economic terms could explain it better and I probably could too if I weren't dead tired with killer ear ache =/.
But my main point is, that people complaining about a 60 dollar price tag have little to complain about compared to price hikes happening in other parts of the world, take a look at most UK price points for game and convert those to USD, same with price points for Japan and Australia. You'll find that the US prices are often significantly cheaper.

TheCheese33: ...and not one of those pretentious speeches can be skipped, even if you are retrying the mission. Hammer keys as much as you like, Assassin's Creed cares not.
Oh, and let's not forget that when you give up in disgust you will find that quitting the game is an ordeal in itself if you were (un)lucky enough to play the PC version.

Arkose: It was ridiculous. First you had to leave Animus. Then you had to "quit", then sign out, then sign back in again and then finally click "quit" again. Also the fact that it crashes constantly...I never got round to finishing it due it to being such a lame port. Gameplay wise though, it wasn't really that impressive. It was OK nothing particularly exceptional. I'd say that the game has actually aged terribly...even though it is a year old.

Jeez people, Alt+F4. :)

It's all relative. :P
If I lived in Japan, I'd buy everything at $100 but not $110 (or higher).

Yeah, it's called inflation. Good point. This is why I hate money.

Hah, there were quite a few YouTube "WTF?!" videos about it back then. IIRC Stranglehold also had that problem but that game was awesome enough it was worth playing through and suffering the wrath of shitty exits.

We should just move over to wirrs and be done with it =).

Hm? What's that?
I'm all about the barter system myself.
Hey GOG, I'll trade ya a couple cows for System Shock 2. ;)
