So - it looks like Ascaron is filing for bankruptcy. Not the first time, they managed to just about avoid it back in 2001 as well. Funily enough they also announced in the same press release that they are working on an expansion to Sacred 2 and on Sacred 3. See, for example, RPG Watch or PC Games Hardware.
I wonder what that means for GoG titles. It likely depends on who steps in and takes over, if someone does. Still ..... if you really really want one of the Ascaron titles but haven't bought it yet - it might be wise to do so.

Already got 3 out of 4 of their titles on here so I am safe...
I got Sacred Gold and Darkstar One and I really want to buy Sacred 2 but on Steam game's price is too high still $49.99. And retail version is not available in Turkey, what a shame.

I only look at these guys as people who sell games dirt cheap on Amazon, not the people who made Sacred.
If there is going to be a problem with selling the ascaron catalogue because of this, I really hope the GOG team will mention it unofficially. Theres at least 2 of their games I plan to pick up but I REALLY can't afford it at the moment unless its a 'now or never' situation
I've liked most of the Ascaron titles I have, so I hope they manage to pull through again. I also got Sacred 2 (but I bought that at the end of last year when the exchange rate was right in my favour, so although it was priced at $49.99 I only actually paid the equivalent of $39.99 for it -- a much nicer price point).

Could their bunkruptcy affect the availability of the titles anyhow? I doubt. Anyway, it's a shame.
And yea, the price on steam is beyond my understanding. (one of the most expensive titles there)

In theory a change of owner might render the distribution contract invalid and since the new owner owns the IPs. a new agreement would have to be negotiated

Well in case Ascaron goes under all it's assests, including all IP, goes to it's deptors and depending how many and who they are, it might become difficult to renegotiate distribution rights with them.
