I see that Rama is on the game "vote list". I do wish it got more attention and votes (hint hint).
But, I just wanted to see if there are any fans of the game and/or books here? I LOVED that game, never managed to get through it though. Was insanely hard, and was actually criticized because of it.
I am a huge fan of the book series, and the game is the closest thing I can have to "live" in that amazing ship/world.
It's been years since, and am considering re-reading them again.
Any other Rama nuts out there?

I loved the first book.
Enjoyed the second book.
Third book ... I only managed to read the first half.
Clarke is a good writer but often loses focus I feel and Rama became a victim too. The original book was great because it offered so many questions that never got answered. But Clarke, just like Stephen King, is quite bad at answering such questions.
2001 A Space Odyssey the movie, didn't attempt to provide questions. Clarke on the other hand decided to write an ending after the movie was made and not that great an ending either. Then the books following dragged on the weak ending ......
I love the book! At least the first one since I've never read the sequels. Also I cannot comment on the game, I've never played that. But I did read the book many times.

This is me, too. Read the first book and loved it. Never read the sequels, because what I read about them made them sound like a bit of a disappointment. Never played the game because, well, to be honest I'd never heard of it.
I just looked it up on Mobygames, and I'm a little surprised I'd never heard of it given that it was Sierra/Dynamix. Voted for, anyway.
Haven't read the Rama series yet. In fact the only Arthur C. Clarke book I have read is Childhood's End.
Ok, I already know he can write so I'm not concerned with the quality of the book. Can anyone sum up the Rama Series for me? Wondering where I should put them in the huge back log of books I need to read. Thanks.
I am a massive Clarke fan myself, and absolutely love the Rama series, especially the two first books, but I still wouldn't call 'The Garden of Rama' and 'Rama Revealed' bad either; inferior, perhaps, but certainly not bad. I for one was not disappointed by any book in the series.
I have never played the game though, but it does look interesting from its Mobygames page.
I'll just place a vote too, then. ;)

I have the game, loved it. Never really got around to reading the books though. It would be a great addition to GoG though.
I am a huge fan of A.C. Clarke, maybe the only "known personality" I'd care to pay a visit to the grave, if only it was not in Sri Lanka...
I still have the original disks of Rama, but man that game was hard!! I was young at that time, I should try it again now that I'm older (I didn't say wiser ^_^)
In general, A.C. Clarke's books are excellent. When he writes with somebody else, the result is generally not as convincing, except for "Cradle" which he wrote with Gentry Lee.
For those who don't know A.C. Clarke fictionnal writings, except Rama, I recommend you "Songs of Distant Earth", "The Fountains of Paradise" or also "Imperial Earth".
And don't forget that he wrote non-fiction, scientific books, like the tremendous "Hello, carbon-based bipeds!"
I ave the cd case and the disks for the game but I have never touched it. I got from a friend of my mother's. I might get to it one day. Maybe do an LP on it.

Loved the book to bits, had no idea there was a game!
Great game, wouldn't mind seeing it on GOG. :-)
Clarke is a great writer, but ever since the tail end of the Rama series, and Cradle, I tend to shy away from anything he coauthored with someone else. I really like a lot of his work, but whenever a second person gets involved things tend to build well and then sort of collapse.
And speaking of Rama, the first book is probably one of my favorite of his. It's something you don't see a lot of in scifi: a book purely about exploring some alien environemnt...no proper antagonist (other than the environment itself), no villainous plots. Just exploring a crazy cylinder world.

I would personally put the Rama book on top of your list, if you really enjoy Sci-Fi. Rama is, in my opinion, the best book Clarke wrote. It was just so well written, and I could clearly see the , in world as he wrote. Loved the mystery and exploration.
BTW, I found this AMAZING fan made short of Rama. Really made me wish they didn't scrap the movie plans.

I totally agree. Also I think, Rama is one of the best sci-fi books has ever been written.

I'll look into grabbing them as soon as I'm finished with me current book. Thanks.
