"Red Warrior has gained a level"

"Wizard needs food badly"

I personally thought Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy on Consoles were the best.
Somehow, I get the feeling that this won't be as good as Hammerwatch.

Hammerwatch was inspired by the old Gauntlet games?
I'm wondering how true this will be to the original Gauntlet experience or whether it's just a bog-standard dungeon crawler that they've chosen to tack the Gauntlet name onto mid-development.

Either way, it's looking to be a Steam-only affair, so I'll be waiting until it sees a VERY deep discount (<€4) before I even consider it.
"...Elf..." LOL racist. (joking around)

It has a lot in common with Gauntlet. Great multiplayer game.

Yes, I think it was :)

Elf is not a race its a whole species.

It like the difference between humans, chimpanzees, gorillas, and orangutans.
I remember playing "Get medieval" (drop a wishlist vote here) witch was probably closely related to Gauntlet... loved it.

This reboot seems kinda meh to me.

The classic fantasy elf is definitely a race where there are screwable elf chicks, mopey half-elves with tragick backstories, or the mighty whitey with an ultra-special-snowflake bloodline.

Dogs and wolves can interbreed but they're still separate species. I feel I should mention that even taxonomists have a hard time deciding what constitutes a new species.

Fantasy-style elves are fictional people that exhibit well-publicized characteristics in settings where evolution and genetics don't exist. Therefore, the correct word to call a class of funny-looking people who can interbreed with humans is "race", and even that is stretching it. Because "elves, dwarves and humans" in stories work just like "Welsh, Scottish and English" and not at all like "dolphins, ospreys and orangutans".

Who's to say they don't exist? Kind of hard to say if no one in-universe has bothered to find out. I'd imagine "it was magic" is a good enough explanation for them.
