We don't have any thread about this game and I wanted to open it. Yesterday Bohemia Interactive announced new DLC for Arrowhead called Private Military Company. It will be released on 24th November and will cost $9.99. Here are the details and new video. It is looking really good.

Operation: Flashpoint was such a huge time-sink for me and I love every bit of it. The demo of ArmA wasn't that good so I took a pass a few years back when it arrived. That, and my laptop is a bit lagging in specs to give it the treatment shooters deserve. But the reviews on ArmA 2 are looking great and I'd love to give this thing a try. Maybe if / when I replace my current rig.
Really need to jump back into ArmA2. Been three months.

I'm too scared to even go to ArmAHolic and see all the new mod content.
I dismissed these games after the demo. Watched some youtube footage once and I think the issue is that it's a co-op game at heart, not a singleplayer one.

Its strength is in the co-op multiplayer. For instance, here's my community playing. (I'm the one that says, "I'm ejecting!" followed by, "FUCK!")

I'd say alongside Deus Ex, ArmA 2 is the best game of the decade.
Is ArmA 2 anything like Arma 1? I have ArmA 1, and I didnt like one bit. Anything different besides more system requirements?

Crapton more polish, really.

Oh, and OA adds REALLY fun thermal vision and nightvision.

But it's still more like Operation Flashpoint than Modern Warfare 2 isnt it?

For clarification I also didn't like the first Arma. But Arma 2 is really a better game, you should try Arma 2 or Arma 2 : Arrowhead demo. I played the demos over 5 hours or so then bought the Arma 2 pack.

It is a realistic game and yes it is like Operation Flashpoint 1 and maybe better than it too (for me Arrowhead is better than OP 1). Flying in helicopters are so much fun.

Correct
I have only played the single player demo but it was fun. There was a random even in the arrowhead infantry level where you could meet the guerrilla's and they would give you Intel and weapons. You could attack from all directions and you could leave in ether the helicopter or the jeep. The multi-player is probably even better then the single-player
The single player demo featured some...interesting AI glitches. However, it seems like a good enough multi player title (and there are some great mods and scenarios out there) that I probably will grab it at some point.
Oh, I forget if it was OA or BAF, but one of those two added back in the Steal The Car mission from OFP. I have probably logged an ungodly number of hours just replaying that mission. Surprisingly fun and simple.

Also, for those of you (like me) who were a bit turned off by always being in command in ArmA2, PMC is apparently going to bring back the concept of having orders and being part of a squad (not leading one).
That trailer totally defeats the point of ARMA 2. It's about realism and instead they have some dialogue in meh British accents about shooting each other.
Bah, forum ate my first post, let's try this again.

As someone who really liked Operation Flashpoint, but never plays multiplayer, is there any point in getting any iteration of ArmA 1 or 2? I am quite tempted by the ArmA 1 gold pack or the ArmA 2 combined operations pack, but if the games emphasis is multiplayer, then there is no point.
