anjohl: I don't treat publishers as my enemy, I treat them as soulless, automated corporations seeking to increase profitability as much as possible, which is what they are.
Like every company. Including GOG.

You described every business ever period. And using terms "souless" to a being that is not person is kinda funny.

anjohl: So they are hoping for X sales at full retail price, Y sales at 3/4's of that, Z sales at half, etc. You are still fitting into their business plan. I am not telling you to pirate it, I am just saying your protest is ineffective.
It's perfectly effective as far as my wallet is concerned and that is all that matters. They wanted to make a certain profit by increasing the base price here, I am not going to be a part of that profit as I am not buying at that higher price. Rather simple really.

Dude, that is like, reason. I mean, dude, really?

(Btw, by not buying the game you are part of group Q, people who won't buy the game. Also part of their business plan. ;-) )

SimonG: And now they want to get paid for that.
Sure they deserve to be paid for it. But I don't deserve to have to pay an extra $10 compared to the US price simply because I have the "wrong" IP address. What's worse is how they only apply this increase of $10, $20, $30, etc., on certain titles and not all of their titles. The lack of consistency in that makes it all the more insulting when they do do it.

At least Rockstar screw us over with an additional $20 or $30 on all their new titles. And even Activision are consistent with their $40 mark up. Not that I'll buy from any of them either all the while they do such markups. But at least the markups come as no surprise from them.

So if I show 2K I'm happy with their increase on X title, it'll only be a matter of time before they apply it to all titles. Conversely, I'll happily buy those titles that are priced the same as in the US (like Borderlands 2). Perhaps eventually, they'll cotton on that the fairer pricing is getting them (a few) more sales. Doubtful, but one can dream.

hell fucking yes. I'm sick of the markups they apply to this region on everything. So yeah. They raise the price for this region, I won't buy it until it's significantly cheaper. If you're happy paying your regionally marked up prices, that's your business. My not being happy to pay them here, is mine.

I actually like regional pricing, when it is used fairly (Steams Russian prices). All regions I consider in the same income group as Germany are fair game to me. But I will not buy Russian or SEA keys just to save a buck. Eventually we will need to come to terms with the fact that people living in rich countries need to pay more than people living in areas with lower income.

I generally prefer Amazon nowadays, good prices and a guaranteed English, uncensored version.

I may live in a "rich" country, but that doesn't mean I get paid accordingly. In fact, I'd go so far to say that I earn less than someone in the US doing the same work, yet am expected to pay prices that are 150% higher (or more!). Fuck that shit.

It's a single customer sale, but it doesn't mean the prices will be reduced or made higher for people according to their personal income. It would make no sense.

But changing the prices accordingly to overall income makes sense. Nobody would buy a thing from steam in Russia for equivalent of 60 bucks.

Sadly, they asume that Polish customer, as being part of the EU, has to pay the same prices as German customers, even though our salaries are 5 times smaller.
Yes, even though I did not think the controls/camera were that great in the demo D:

Well people living in US pay less than me, living in Czech Republic. Unless Czech Republic has a higher average salary than US, which is a pretty laughable trought, that system just doesn't work.

Hey, we in Poland earn 40% less than you in CzR and yet we pay more than Americans :D

As you say, publishers will charge what they see customers as being prepared to pay. I am not prepared to pay their higher prices and thus will wait until they are charging a price I am happy with. It may not mean anything to them; but it means a lot to my money =) Now, if more and more people here start wising up and doing the same, then maybe things will change.

Actually, given the new copyright laws that came into effect here at the start of the month -- basically, you can now be sentenced to 2 years in prison/pay a 2 million yen fine (or both) for downloading files of certain types, whether knowingly or not, without permission of the IP holder -- I'd be interested to see if the continuing low sales of both music and anime will still be blamed on mass piracy or whether they will now realise they are charging too much for too little...

And this is why sales were invented ;)

shadowreaper1989: I know i am :-) Do you think it going to be any good?

Any way i digress Which Xcom was the best and why?

I believe it was Apocalypse b casue it was the first in the series i played and the first PC game i discovered graphics ment next to nothing gameplay and ambition means alot more. Since then i started to play alot older games i used to be one of those move with the times people but not any more.
Hell Yes! After viewing this demo playthru, I am going to pick this up on a future Steam sale. I only have one question, Is Steam going to be the only viable way to play this game? Or like older Firaxis titles, can it played stand alone? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
