I didn't hear about the Witcher until long after joining GOG. I just have to wonder if I would have even noticed or cared about the sequel if I hadn't joined GOG. Is there significant anticipation elsewhere on the net?
I believe Tycho from Penny Arcade has mentioned it, (and GOG) so that probably gained some interest.

Ya, it has been mentioned a few places but that's not really what I'm getting at. I would like to know if the little people are buzzing about it. If the one reply is any indication it would seem GOGers aren't even all that interested.

Are you serious? I've seen masses of publicity on UK sites and a fair bit here in Australia too. Also, most of Europe is currently asleep and so you'll be missing out on a big chunk of potential GOG replies since you only started this post two hours ago.
I'd say that on most sites/magazines that TW2 has been hyped as having the potential to be one of the most promising RPGs of 2011.
Rock Paper Shotgun is creaming themselves over all the praise they've giving The Witcher and The Witcher 2. Seems so is Blistered Thumbs. Big sweeping fantasy RPGs are still huge, man; they don't go unnoticed.

Exactly. I didn't want to specifically mention RPS (how I love thee) in case the OP thought I worked for them or something.

Thanks for the reply but, again, I'm not asking about critical reception or publicity. What are average Joe's and Joette's saying about it? Are they saying anything?
No one I know (that isn't on GOG) has been talking about the Witcher 2, so I'd guess it's going to be similar to the original in terms of widespread knowledge.

Ah I see, sorry I misinterpreted your post. Well, all my gaming friends I know are pretty hyped, but that's not a very big sample size.
Honestly, prior to joining this site I'd never heard of TW, so obviously I had no idea that TW2 was going to be coming out.

I'm not huge into new games so this will be one of the rare ones that I'm going to get.
I frequent the Gamespot forums and hear The Witcher mentioned a lot.
I'm pretty sure book fans are expecting it.

That they have no idea what the hell that game is about. At least the people around here.

In another forum, a strategy games forum, in the general games section there is a fairly large thread about witcher 1, comparable in number of posts to threads of other PC-RPGs like Risen, Dragon Age, Oblivion and Drakensang and some people there mentioned that they liked Witcher 1 and are looking forward to Witcher 2 and at least one other mentioned that he/she didn't like Witcher 1 and probably is not playing Witcher 2.

Is this significant?
Never heared about Witcher until joining GOG. Game look intressting.
