Roman5: No console is worth buying for only 2 games

People bought Wii's to play TP/Galaxy then complained that only a few good games a year came out for the Wii, I don't expect anything to change with the WiiU
They will complain but they will still buy the damn thing. The Nintendo faithful, be it born of actual enjoyment or loyalty bred through adolescent experience, cannot imagine a world where they don't play new Nintendo games.

Well, there is people that buy and play games that they like and enjoy, and there is people that bitch about them. I thought gamers were supposed to play games but it seems it's more fun to judge other people's taste in video games.

Well hey I did not buy it at launch and one of them is not a nintendo game.

And the interest that the WiiU will be a safe haven for JRPGs

I don't think there will be a PS4.

Consoles are always a "lost" at first. They take several years to be really profitable. And Sony simply does not have the money.

They might do a PS3x, or something like that, a console they can sell with a profit (like Nintendo did with the Wii).

Actually, I don't think there will be any "classical console" anymore. There will be a "pre-boxed PC" by MS which will run on a version of Win 8, some Steam box with linux and the rest will be PC gaming or Nintendo. Nintendo is the only company that actually knows how to sell innovation to people outside the core gamer group.

jackalKnight: Apple doesn't have to release a console if more kids want Ipads anyway.
I'm pretty certain this gen will be the end of Sony consoles, they are too dependent on "white elephants"

Seriously?
The video game business is brutal and Sony is hurting bad. Do they have the cash to launch a competitive nextnextgen console and subsidize early units before they can build them efficiently? Even titans have been known to fall.

I said actual enjoyment OR, I wasn't discounting people really liking Nintendo games. Feel free to be sensitive about it though, for whatever reason.

Not to mention that the first year PS3 nearly killed Sony ...
none of the console coming out should be more then wii U price, they would be stupid to charge 600 like 7 years ago
As I said elsewhere their TV business is what is killing them. The games stuff is profitable.

They need to release a relatively minor upgrade and remain in the green on the system, sure, but they WILL release a PS4. Every journalist treats this as fact for a reason. I doubt it will have dual GTX 680s in SLI, it will be a modest upgrade so they remain profitable while focusing on new ways to play and digital.

I give them higher odds than MS of winning next-gen because they will be more flexible. Though I doubt they will be that dumb I think it is entirely possible MS will just release a more powerful Xbox with the same rules and flaws.

Mine was an open statement. I can't be held accountable if you fell into one category.
Besides I don't even understand what purpose your statement had because all gamers regardless of system preference end up bitching about something their system doesn't have. Are you gonna point out all the PSP Go buyer's remorse? What about PS Vita? I don't see why anybody has to question the reasons why somebody else spends their money however they want.

Because Nintendo systems traditionally lack any real third party support and good software sales outside the Nintendo core. Because people bitch about this constantly, from consumers to analysts, yet Nintendo systems will always sell to the faithful because the systems are must-buys for them because they HAVE to play Nintendo games.

It's part of the analysis. They're unique aspects. Your post reeks of "stop picking on Nintendo" when all that's being said are facts and all that being debated are their chances for success and their outlook, not tastes.

Couldn't it be because they WANT to play Nintendo games? You say that's a fact but I'm pretty sure it's only an opinion. Re-read the first post of yours that I replied to and tell me that everything you said was a fact because your definition of fact reeks of "everything I don't like it's wrong".

Again, I said real enjoyment OR... I am speaking of a particular subset, that does not mean the others do not exist.

You're reaching so far it's annoying and I won't respond again.

And how is that subset relevant to any discussion? Sure, there might be a person that will literally die if a new Mario game is not released ever again as I'm sure there is somebody in the whole world that likes to eat his own toenails with ketchup and a drop of vinegar. What you are saying is that a relevant subset of the people that buy Nintendo consoles do it out of blind loyalty and that's what keeps the company going. It's the same as if I read http://www.sonydefenseforce.com/ and I concluded that every Sony fan is a raving idiot that fails at math.

I can see this happening too, didnt they really extend the life of the PS1 with slimmer versions and the PS2 had a slimline version, I think, in its latter stages.
