DarrkPhoenix: It's a Gothic game in name only. Piranha Bytes and JoWood split after Gothic 3, with JoWood then bringing in Indian developer Trine Games to make the abysmal Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods expansion. The development of Arcania: A Gothic Tale was handed off to Spellbound, another studio that had absolutely nothing to do with the Gothic series (if you can't tell, I'm not expecting much from this game).
If anyone is looking for a excellent game that carries on the spirit of the Gothic series then go with Risen (which was developed by Piranha Bytes after the split with JoWood).
I remember reading a conversation between a spellbound studio employee on a Gothic fan site and he mentioned that they only had 6 months to make the game. They were rushed to get it released by the publisher. So who knows. Maybe this one will be a lot better then the last game.
