As for the other games, probably one of SEGA's driving games (sit down cabinet, obviously, with room for 4 players) and the final one would feature one o the later versions of Bubble Bobble (modified with a beer tap, dispensing cider. Yes, such machines exist, though I don't know if there is one for any of the Taito games)

The only arcade game I remember playing was The Simpsons in a Hills department store in Pittsburgh. Suffice it to say I wasn't an arcade kid, I has a NES and SNES, fuck that arcade shit!

I'm still amazed when I see arcade coin ops somewhere. We went to see a movie this evening, and I saw quite a few arcade coin ops in the movie theater. They were quite old, like "Star Wars Arcade" (could have been also the "Star Wars Trilogy Arcade", not sure which it was) and some driving games, but I presume there aren't many arcade coin ops made anymore, so they use the old ones as long as they work.

I would have loved to play the Star Wars Arcade game, but for some reason I didn't feel like paying one or two euros per play, especially as I would have still been learning the ropes. I could buy a GOG game for that kind of money.

Actually, starting a small-ish arcade/coffee-shop is exactly what I have in mind. That's why I asked.

Slightly offtopic, but some time ago i bought:

2 cg lux arcade cabinets (maybe some candycabs in the future)
1 neo geo 1 slot and 1 2 slot board with the metal slug series and Twinkle star Sprites
1 hyper neo geo v2.0 kit with 4 games
1 Naomi2 and cf box with Ikaruga, Virtua Fighter4 Final Tuned, and Shikigami no Shiro 2.
1 Viper phase1 Jamma board, 1 Soul Edge pcb, 1 Led Storm pcb,
and finally 1 authentic Taito a78 Bubble Bobble pcb.

That's enough for my needs. i just miss a 31khz monitor for the Naomi - but that can wait, i am using a Jamma adaptor atm.

The games i play most are Ikaruga, Viper Phase 1, and Bubble Bobble.

Nothing beats a real arcade at home ;)

In that case I would definily try to get an 4 Slot NeoGeo MVS Machine. Sure, the games aren´t that cheap, but at least you have the option to have different games every now and then. And you have a lot of games to chose from, a lot of really good fighting games like The Last Blade, King of Fighters or Samurai Showdown, the Metal Slug Series and even some sports / racing games like the really good Neo Drift Out.

We didn't have arcades in Germany (at least where I lived) :-(
