KneeTheCap: I would buy them, I'd even be a regular in that section, that's for sure.
Me too. Sex is an important part of human life and interaction, it's a constant theme in other forms of art, and it's weird that it seems taboo for games. Whenever I see even allusions to sex in a video game, they seem to be targeted at 15 year old boys with no experience. Look at the way how GTA 4 depicts sex - the camera moves out of the room, and then you hear the girl moan "Oh, you're so good, you're so good!". *facepalm*

The problem is that there are no good games which handle explicit sexual content in a mature way, as far as I'm aware. The last game that tried that was "Romantic Encounters at the Dome", and that was text only, and decades ago. "Embric of Wulfhammer Castle" is a very good recent attempt at introducing mature themes through parody, but the author never even tried to sell it, it has always been free.
thing is, most of what's considered AO in a video game-related context sexually in the us would be rated R in a film

if you really think about it in an "oh the children" kind of way (which i'm not at all predisposed to do), violence is imo much worse than sex. sex is a natural thing that's enjoyable -- i don't think you can say the same about a lot of videogame violence.

i'm totally against censorship, think that adults should be able to make their own decisions for entertainment, and am a firm believer that violent media does not cause violence. but for me the idea that sexual content is inherently worse than violent content is a bit silly

that being said, most video games dealing with sexual matters are made by horny males who don't seem to have ever spoken to a women (see the fear effect games for a perfect example); this is changing due to independent development etc. the lack of good AO games is similar to the lack of good nc-17 movies -- it's not the rating as much as the way the rating is seen in culture, which makes the products pretty unmarketable when intended for serious audiences

as noted above, there are some excellent japanese anime/hentai type games -- divi dead in particular (eve burst error would count, but they got rid of the hentai stuff for the US release)
Seduce Me was genuinely a good game (won it from a giveaway hosted by ne_zavarj some months ago).
If GOG were to sell Lula - The Sexy Empire, I would definitely get it (or rather given my current financial situation: beg for it in the GOG gifting thread).

That said, I don't recall seeing any other interesting AO titles. If they're only about fucking, then they don't necessarily are enough to pique my interest. But those two games are/were good regarding gameplay as well.
(What I mean, is that games like Virtual Sex etc. would definitely stay on the shelf in my case)

gibbeynator: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AO-rated_products

The list of AO rated games is fairly sparse, and most of them appear to be porn, more or less. GOG already has some of the notable ones, and I'm fairly sure the AO version of GTA:SA doesn't exist anymore.
From that list I'd probably only be interested in Wet: The Sexy empire...

Yeah, it was. I defended that game here on GOG, got not that good of a reaction from people. I asked the devs to come here to help me defend that game, they saw the thread and decided it was too hostile to enter. They didn't want to see their work being ridiculed again (it was when it was banned from Greenlight)

And yes, I bought the game directly from the webpage.

Really? Well, I guess it's universal...
blood, guts and gore = A OK!
boobs, butts and whores = MY GOD WHAT A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!

It's a bit sad.

Not really. I think it's mostly american thing. It's not a problem to show full nudity in any mature movie in Poland (not pornographic movie), it's pretty much the same in all of the Europe. More than a few non porn european movies have real sex performances, btw. But rather niche movies mostly.
I'm sure there are good adult only games that would interest me, but I haven't heard of any.

Knights of Xentar might be fun to play through, but not for more than $1.

Lula is an entire series, apparently:

Not sure what else there is, maybe the old Artworx Strip Poker series for nostalgia's sake...

Then how you explain the backlash KneeTheCap apparently got in his thread? Or were all of the people there American?

From what I remember, Lula 3D is horrible.

Probably because it's video games. Europeans pretty widely accept nudity and sexin cinema, but not yet in video games. I think...

dragonsreach: OK, lets review that statement. Snuff film, a film in which someone is killed. From previous comments we are talking about AO games so that includes porn and/or violence to some degree.
1. EVERY friggin game that requires you to shoot/stab or otherwise KILL someone is a Snuff game.
2. As for an example, try the AO expanded version of Metal & Lace: Battle of the Robo Babes.
3. You can find all kinds of MODS out there for other games to bring them up to AO standards, like, say, Better Bodies and such for TES3:Morrowind.

tinyE: No Snuff is when someone is actually killed; I'd mention "Faces of Death" but that's not a good example because those movies are notoriously faked. A real life video of someone getting offed is snuff. To that extent the nightly news is loaded with it.
Manhunt was about snuff films. Your character was killing people while being filmed, and the 'director' was talking to you via an earpiece, making all the appropriate sounds that might come from someone getting a kick out of seeing someone getting killed at the appropriate moments. The gorier kills, the better. Does this count?

I don't care if it counts, if GOG got it I'd buy it instantly. Loved the demo, albeit the scenery get's a tad repetitive.

You also have this masterpiece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMjrURyknOA (NSFW)

and not to forget Custers revenge, and several other from the same era - gog have a well of classics to dig up there :) (well... at least just as good as the Surgeon Simulator released today...)
nvm, maybe I don't know shit :P
