I am on a platformer rush as of late, and in my life I played loads of them. The only type of platformers that I do not like are the ones you see most lately. I don't like the ones where dying a 100 times in the first level is part of the fun, I also do not like floaty controls and I do not like platformers that are actually puzzle games disguised as platformers.

I am looking for a game similar to rayman 2 (the N64 style platformer) that I haven't played yet. Games like beyond good and evil are good too. Preferably on PC but consoles are fine too (preferably wii, wiiU,xbox 360 or ps3). Not too expensive if possible. You may also mention other types of platformers (2D) and even the ones I dislike if you think I should give it a chance.

This might be difficult so the one that comes up with a winner, can get a gift code for Dungeon Keeper on gog. If you come up with something incredible and you already have Dungeon Keeper: I am willing to gift a low tier priced game on gog of your choosing.
-Banjo Kazooie (on xbox 360) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddELitQsqWs
-Croc (and Croc 2) on pc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piOHZI8s1S4
-Klonoa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iP1vputA8o

Naturally Banjo is a great game but played it already. I will look into Croc. Never heard of that so you are still in the race for a prize ;)

Edit: I know klonoa also (love it)

can't seem to find Croc at the moment without going to ebay, or downloading iso's or signing up to questionable sites. Looks a bit like Kao the kangoroo. Fun but very very easy.
These two are on the PC.

- Psychonauts (great platformer with a whacky sense of humor)
- Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (Not quite like Rayman 2, but really does have great platforming mechanics)

Jett Rocket on the Wii (WiiWare release) was really surprising and I utterly loved it, look at the video and see what you think, it will be right what you are after.

It's on marktplaats for 4 euro. It isn't superhard but in my experience it wasn't totally easy either.
It's also on psx btw, maybe you can download it through psp or ps3? i dont have them so don't know.

I will look into it. I was hoping to find something I could play immediately but Croc is a very nice find. Strange i never heard of it.
I own both of them on the PS1, I don't know about any other ports for them, but they have aged pretty badly, the collision detection can be awful at times and the controls can often feel 'tank like'.

Just my 2c.
Contenders for the moment: Croc Series, Jett Rocket Series. Both look rather good. Probably unable to test those today (marktplaats and wiipoints) so let the ideas coming.
So you are not fond of platformers like Super Meat Boy neither am I. I presume you have already played Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. If not then do play Rayman Legends as it is one of the best platformers out there at the moment and is the epitome of the genre. Although the its available on all platforms including WiiU, Ps3, Xbox 360 and PC you would probably have the most fun with it on the WiiU as it was initially supposed to be an exclusive but still great on other platforms as well.

Here are all the music based levels from the game:

yeah have them. Didn't enjoy origins for some reason. Legends was a lot better.
