Don't do it. Don't take the candy from the shady man. It's not candy.

no its worse than crack, it will suck your life away.

I played WOW before. I have no idea why people call it addictive, I got bored 2 hours into the game. It's just another game where you 'grind' your way to success. It's like real life except in real life, you get paid.

Exactly!
I got bored just after 3 years. Don't know why people call it addictive.
I pretty much only log in to chat with friends I met through the game and maybe run a dungeon with them. Really the addictive part is the social aspect of it. And that will end as soon as a game comes along that a majority of the group decides to move onto. Then that will be the new 'addiction'.

But really, the game at this point serves as a way to hang out and do something with friends I would otherwise be unable to interact with regularly due to not living in the same areas.

You also get payed in WOW. With in-game loot, etc.
Though I really like the analogy. WOW is pointless and should be avoided at all cost... JUST like real life.
Also, I got tired of real life after a while but didn't ragequit yet, for some reason ;P.
Already tried WoW. Got addicted for a long while. I don't think I want to go back to that phase of my life.

My story is the same as this guy. Just replace 2 hours with however long it takes to hit level 40.

The idea of doing the same 3 quests copy and pasted 1000 times to hit 'end-game' doesn't appeal to me. Especially when the end-game apparently consists of running dungeons for gear in raids. Then you run those raids for better gear to use in harder raids. The cycle is called a gear treadmill for a reason I suppose.

If you want to play a game with no grinding give Guild Wars a go since it actually makes playing fun.

Ludomania. WoW stimulates the same trigger points.
