My Wii is without a doubt my most neglected console of this Gen... that being said, every once in awhile there is a game that makes me want to dust the little bastard off & actually use it for once. The question is... is that this game? I am a pretty middle ground fan of the series... I have played every (official) game in the series minus Spirit Tracks & Minish cap. I'm not a huge fan of the two NES games, I think the Gameboy/GBC Color games are amazing, ALTTP is just alright, Ocarina of Time is a masterpiece, Majora's Mask not so much, Windwaker is my favorite in the series, Four Swords Adventures (for the lack of an actual Zelda Feeling), Phantom Hourglass (for the horrific touch controls) & Twilight Princess (for the Wolf segments & lack of color) I more or less dislike (though I can't really say I hate them... or any Zelda game for that matter). So knowing that... to those who have played it, do you think it is worth my time & money?

My opinion is that if you like Wind Waker you'll like this. There's tons of Wind Waker in the character designs and the Sky is basically a successor to the Great Sea.

EDIT: Disclaimer, I'm not very far through the game as I've been taking my time so these opinions are based on what I've played so far.

Oh yeah, the controls are a hell of a lot better than in Twilight Princess. In TP 'waggle' just replaced pressing B to use the sword, in this one the sword actually tracks your movements properly. Oh yes, it requires Wii Motion Plus by the way.

I bought it Monday and started it yesterday. I'm not very far in but so far so good...
Not yet, but I plan on getting a Wii soon and SS will definitely be the first game I play on it.

I've loved every Zelda game I've ever played (except for Spirit Tracks) so I'm really excited.
Just a word of warning : if you don't like motion controls, there's a good chance Skyward Sword will make you rage. I just got past the second dungeon and I'm starting to get used to them, but I still have trouble with blocking enemies.

The trouble mostly comes from the fact that if I try to re-orient my sword too quickly the game registers it as an attack, which just gets blocked most of the time. If I'm too slow, then the enemy before me just re-orients it's block or attacks. Either I suck, or I need to recalibrate my wiimote. Other than that though, the game's pretty good. So far it feels like the offspring of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess.
I play it and I like it!
I've cleared 3 dungeons so far.
i played for 30 hours or so now.
i have mixed feelings about it and its not the hype they make it to be, like you will get a big wow or something. it certainly is not a bad game, if you liked the others and you want just another game of the same then you can play it. if you want something totally new, better skip it.

again you will have to save zelda, start with a cheap sword and shield you need to upgrade, find some pieces of a map, find the same equipment (bomb, hook, slingshot, bow) come on find something original! (i was thinking how can they make it different, how not play with zelda for a change in a next game, rescueing link?)

even with all that i am still a sucker for it, and got me addicted to play. as a matter of fact
gonne play right now. need to do some ingame shopping, upgrade my equipment, go pick up some treasure.

Zelda's Adventure? Again?
I like it BUT at this point it's not gripping to me. Granted i'm just in my first dungeon but somehow i don't feel it. it's fun thoug but not in a "i can't stop playing" way. I had that feeling with almost every other zelda, not with this one...yet. I hope it will though.

I'm not perhaps as gripped as I was by OoT, MM or WW, but I'm a lot more gripped than I was by Twilight Princess. I really didn't like that one.

With all due respect, you do realize that this is a sequel right? Of course it is going to play similar to the older games.... that is the one thing that drives me nuts when it comes to the way people look at sequels. If they don't change everything then people bitch about it... yet if they change everything people bitch about how it isn't true to the original. As long as they add to the sequels & change a few things for the better here & there then what can you honestly complain about. It is all new dungeons with a all new setting with some new items & a new control scheme... I don't know how much more change people could honestly want. That being said, I still haven't played the game & am still looking into it. Those kinds of posts just annoy me however.

Well, there's a point where you've done enough sequels. How many Fire and Water dungeons do I need to do? How many times is Ganon going to come back? It's fine to make sequels, it's just Nintendo has gone back to the same well a lot on Zelda games and after the 20th iteration or so it starts to wear thin for some of us.

You have to admit that many Zeldas gave you that feeling of "been there, done that" though. Like "you got the Master Sword... again", "defeated Ganon... again", "Got the same items and weapons than the previous games", etc. IMO Majora's Mask was one of the best games in the series but many people didn't like it because it was too different and the same with Wind Waker because "it looked kiddie" even though it was awesome. I guess fans are never happy.
For me Zelda is more about the gameplay, puzzles, and dungeons than the story. I'm looking forward to playing Skyward Sword even if I have to beat Ganon for the 1000th time.
It's made me dust off my wii. Two years ago, the PS3 was the one gathering dust, and now it is the main console I use.

Skyward is pretty nice.
Played more, I keep getting somewhat better at the controls but they're still awkward in intense fights. Gotta hate when the wiimote gets "de-centerized" in the middle of a bossfight.

The game itself keeps getting better though. I didn't care much for the first and third dungeons, but the 4th and 5th have been brilliant. They've done some pretty interesting things in regard to puzzles. All my item slots are now filled after 25 hours or so, and apparently I only have 2 dungeons left, so I'm not sure I'll reach the 50 hours it's supposed to take to complete the game. We'll see ...
