Phc7006: These products make people's live "better, easier", make them feel their life "if worth more". That's how Jobs saw the basics of marketing. Once the need has been created, people would buy the next generations to feed their need "for more".
But after a while, you have to find incentives to generate new sales. Especially if you want to push new generations faster than customers had expected. Programming obsolescence, making repair impossible or economically uninteresting is everywhere. be it Ipads, computers, dishwashers, ovens or even shirts.
Err yeah but why are the chargers so expensive ? How often have you had to buy a new power cable for your TV ? Is this the new reality : not only forcing people (gradually) to use new technology but also SLYLY (but really rather transparently) forcing them to PAY for the "privilege" ? Apple can go and **** themselves ! I am really angry about this. I do specialise in being angry about things these days, I must admit, but that's not the point ! It's just not right at all that companies are engaging in these sly policies. Apple should be content with selling their devices and make chargers which will last for a lifetime.
