Does that EA live chat thingy actually...work? I have never tried that..

And sorry keeveek for slightly hijacking this thread, but since this is an origin thread, I'm gonna ask anyway.

Would it be possible to convert my Dragon Age Origins normal version to ultimate edition, when I have bought all the DLC and awakening ? Would save so much of the install hassle..
Well, you should ask the support.

But do you REALLY have ALL Dlcs? Gifts, pranks also?

kavazovangel: Oh, they started outsourcing support too?
avatar
bansama: Yeah, and now they can't do "anything" basically. The quality of support since outsourcing again (they used to do that a few years ago too) has become utter shite compared to what it was a few months ago.
EA is the only company (that I have contacted multiple times) that has given me consistently poor support, in the form of incredibly long response times and answers like "we don't know that game" and one of the worst "Call our american support" (because they would not responds to my email about billing issues for UO, and the European support said that those issues were handled by their American counterparts). I can't imagine them actually getting worse than that...

On the other hand, I have almost all good thoughts about EA tech support. They always helped me in the best way they could so far.

Unless like Steam support, for example. You post them an email, they respond you two weeks later that they don't give a shit.

Also, EA is the only company that provides full refund if you haven't downloaded the game, but you don't want it (you have to write a ticket witihn 14 days after placing the order)

I tried it once after a newly bought game didn't accept the cd-key. It took some 3 hours of chatting to get them to activate the game for me. They even asked me to give them the cd-key, they said it was correct and unused, I copy pasted it from the chat and the installer still said it was incorrect. They had me register to a bunch of services that, to my knowledge, had absolutely nothing to do with anything. In the end, though, they gave me an EADM copy of the game, and I was so tired about the whole thing that it felt like a great solution to spend a day downloading it even when I had the discs. It took 3 hours of convincing even though a quick google search suggested that just about none of the game's cd keys worked in the installer, and the support guy's wages probably cost them more than I paid for the game -_-

So it kind of works, maybe.

I too have been hearing about how EA support has been going down the pan after such a promising start when Origin launched. It was basically the one thing it had going for it over Steam/Valve's obnoxiously bad customer support.

And EA's granting of 14 days withdrawal from the sale isn't just goodwill in Europe - it's the law. EU law requires companies to grant you the right to withdraw from the sale within 14 days of concluding it if you haven't downloaded it.

jamyskis, I understand, but Steam doesn't give a shit about EU law, since Valve isn't registered anything in EU.

btw. my issue has been resolved and game added to my account.

FALSE! :D

btw. if you want your issue to be resolved quickly - hint this moron possible solution. I did it twice, always worked.

Like with this Dragon Age : Ultimate problem. I've literally said, after long pause of this moron from support "So maybe you just give me DLC codes to activate them, for each DLC separately?"

and he was like "yyym... yes, ok" :P

I paid like 5 euros for it. :D

Well, Valve do tend to buckle when someone shakes the lawbook at them (oft-quoted example: Sale of Goods Act in the UK), because although they don't have registered offices here in Europe, the various European regulatory authorities can impose penalties on Valve and even ban Valve from trading in their respective countries.

(The EU itself can't, but being banned from trading in the UK, France or Germany would more or less fucking cripple them).
They can, because Valve pays some taxes in EU. If Valve screws with EU taxes, then European Comission has jurisdiction.

And I don't think EU will ever ban Valve from trading in EU, because it would hurt customers, too.
Sorry to hear that man. Apart from a small wait for Crysis 2 to appear in my account last November (appeared about 20 minutes later), I haven't had a problem with Origin's store side.
My problem has been resolved within 6-7 houts, Fifeldor, so you don't need to be sorry ;)
Glad to hear they got it sorted out.
