That's cheap for such a good game. GSC Gameworld definitely deserves support, along with all the developers who keep the PC scene alive with big productions.
Although they better upgrade their engine for the next iteration. X-Ray will always remain an unoptimized POS no matter how many times they try to patch it up.
Weren't there rumors of them licensing Crytek technology?

The game is pretty recent, and the box version can be found everywhere.
You buy it on Steam cause it's "sodamncool-with-socool-achievements", or... what? Or maybe it's a question of price?

I wanted the game but was reasonably sure my laptop wouldn't run it so never got the boxed version to avoid wasting $50 on a game I couldn't play. Then the steam sale came along and I could buy it for a bit over $2 so I went for it on the theory that I'd be unlikely to get it so cheap again no matter how long I wait and I'd not miss the money that much if it didn't work.

Careful with the dirt cheap RU branded games. Valve are known to regionally block those for use on Russian IP addresses only.

Unfortunately, it's $19.99 if you're loyal and $29.99 if you're not for CoP here. If I could get CoP for $10 I'd be on it in a second. For $20, I'll beat CS first and wait for reviews before I consider it.

But I am not from Russia. I think maybe Valve did something wrong. It is $9.99 only in Russia? Can somebody confirm this? My Steam account is saying it is EE version. I think EE is Eastern Europe.

Well you're screen shot clearly indicates an RU version. But if it's dirt cheap in EE too, it may also be regionally locked to that region. I'd suggest asking Steam support, but to be honest, when it comes to restrictions, they don't know what they are talking about.

Aliasalpha: If so, in your tools tab of the steam app, is there a "Stalker ownership check" entry? Any idea what thats about?

If you buy STALKER: Call of Pripyat, you get 10 USD or EUR discount (29,99 -> 19,99) if you have STALKER.
