Neobr10: I just played the campaign for a few hours, what an amazing game. I'm very impressed. Like Soviet said, Chief and Cortana hame some personality. Also the story-telling is more mature.

The graphics are amazing, it's easily the most beautiful game on the Xbox 360, and maybe on any console. I'm amazed at how far they managed to push a 7 years old hardware. It's better than most PC games around.

It's probably the best game i have played this year.

I still haven't tried the multiplayer mode, though.
Halo 4 is epic so far. I agree with the graphics, as well Ubisoft really showed how much juice they could squeeze out with Assassin's Creed 3 (which I may go back to playing now that I've played me some Halo, not because Halo is bad, but because AC3 is downright amazing).

I haven't tried multiplayer but I'm sure it'll be Halo multiplayer, fun and fast, with all the things that make Halo Halo.

So far it's downright gorgeous and fun, good story so far too.

Randalator: I don't own a console, obviously there is no point in buying Halo 4 today or tomorrow or any other day thereafter. Also there's roughly a metric fuckton of superior shooters on the PC, so I wouldn't buy it even if there was a PC port.
Having played a lot of PC shooters released this year... exactly which ones are better? Spec Ops I wouldn't really qualify as a shooter, but it was of excellent quality. The rest were... really meh, Max Payne 3? Serious Sam 3? BF3? The not-quite-released-yet Black Ops II? I can't speak for the last one, but aside from Spec Ops, the rest were really mediocre.

In the history of gaming? Sure, there's better shooters. In 2012... umm, Halo 4... maybe by itself.... unless Far Cry 3 turns out amazing as well.

Theta_Sigma: Question, is the game both discs or is one bonus stuff? I wanted to know so if it's both I'll install both discs to my Xbox when I do.
avatar
Neobr10: I think it's both discs. It just says "disc 1" and "disc 2" on the DVD, if there was a bonus disc i guess it would be labeled as a bonus disc.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the rest of the campaign. AC3 put multiplayer on the second disc. RDR GOTY does this too. Dunno what's on the second Halo 4 disc, it didn't say, but if I had to guess: more campaign.

Has the Halo series ever really been hated that seriously? Most of the "this sucks" complaints against FPS seem to be aimed at COD and Battlefield rather than Halo.

I agree with you there. Unless COD Black Ops 2 and Farcry 3 turn out to be amazing (Farcry 3 is looking pretty good from the trailers, though), Halo 4 is certainly the best FPS released this year.

Uhhhhh no. I'm mainly a PC gamer and i can say that there aren't that many superior shooters on PC.

I think that the reason why some PC gamers hate Halo so much is because it's an exclusive. Seriously, there is absolutely nothing that makes Halo inferior to a PC shooter. If Halo 4 was released on PC it would still be one of the best FPSes on the platform.

Neobr10: I went to a local store today and picked it up. I still haven't played it, i'll try it soon.

I'm a huge Halo fan, i loved all the games in the series.

Elmofongo: I wonder if any one made the sequel to this:

Neobr10: What the fuck did i just watch?
(Silly sarcastic mode on)

What you saw were filthy, douche bag, multiplayer only shooter loving, console gamers that the entire industry is trying to dumb down their games like System Shock and Rainbow Six in order to appeal to people like those 2 because they are the majority ;)

(Silly Sarcastic mode off)

Halo has been a favorite target of PC gamer hate since its release. If it has subdued slightly over the years it is only because COD and friends have eclipsed it in popularity.
Someone, somewhere, on this very earth jacked it to Cortana.
Would PC gamers hate it if the original Mac release plan had come through and Microsoft didn't buy out Bungie?

Aside from this forum, most PC gamers aren't actually old enough to remember those days... I doubt that is a well known fact, for example, over at the Steam forums.

Well, for a reason. When games like HALO get the praise for best FPS ever and NOLF gets lost in time, you are likely to get angry.

The average PC gamer is over 30. ;-P

(Yeah, I don't have data to back that up, but that number gets repeated all the time, so I'm just going with it)

NOLF was a better game but Halo was probably more important, there's a pretty good argument that US console development only exists because of Halo's success. Whatever people think of consoles, the world would be poorer without the US console industry, which has bankrolled some games that would have probably never existed solely due to US PC or Japanese console development.

Then we should collectively start acting our age... well, at least in certain respects:)

I think that its a question of education not age.

As if you are acting your age.... ;-P

I'll have you know I didn't need a degree to learn how to extract my head from my rectum from time to time;)

I shall never "act my age" in the "not fun at all" way, I just think we could avoid the kind of rage parties on the internet that have become a running joke about gamer culture, especially PC gaming culture.
Just saying, buying Halo is almost as bad as buying COD. It's simply jumping on the bandwagon. Halo 1 may have been "good" or "ok" but honestly, it kinda shaped the future for the FPS genre; crappy console to PC ports and linear gameplay ect ect. On the PC, other than the problematic GUI and glitches, most FPS games nowadays are designed for consoles; Keeping it simple for the console controller and because publishers\developers think that gamers don't notice games becoming simplistic. Taking away or not adding potentially awesome\unique features.
I may be wrong about all of this... Meh. I had to rant.

I won't get it today, but I definitely plan to get it. I'll probably get it after I play Reach

Really?

A lot of people online have been saying the exact opposite

4 Hour campaign
Braindead AI
Cortana will not shut up
Brings nothing new to the table

I haven't played the game myself here but I'm getting some very conflicting messages from people here....

I wouldn't be surprised considering how they "Changed" her for 4

It's almost ridiculous
