I preordered it for my fiancee (and that's actually the most I've ever spent on a videogame. Blegh), a devote Halo fanatic. I was wondering if any GOGers are going to be buying Halo 4 today.
I would if it were on PC.

Though I hear it is more linear and popamole than the original, which is a shame.

I haven't much of anything about it, actually (mostly because I don't go looking). Just something about it having a multiplayer perk system, and a few really pretty-looking screenshots. And apparently Master Chief is in it :P

Got it already, and MASTER CHIEF TALKS A LOT O_O
I actually hate halo.
I'll get it once it gets on promo on GOG.
My husband's getting the Limited edition Xbox360 w/ game. I think I've been burned out on Halo since Reach came out and Black ops killed my love of online FPS.
One of these days I might give Halo another try. The first was ok (overhyped, but ok), the second rubbish and with the third I didn't bother beyond the first level.

But I'm a sucker for cheesy SF and Halo qualifies.
I've never been a fan of the series. I played first Halo on PC ages ago, but it was pretty bland experience IMO. I tried Halo2 on my bro's Xbox, but I wasn't drawn into that either.

I absolutely adored Halo 1 multiplayer on the PC. The single player was fun, I suppose. Awesome in the combat department, acceptable in most other areas, horrible in the level design. I thought its story felt a little self-obsessed, but perhaps that's just because I've heard so many people emoting about it. It seemed to be competently executed at least.

I never really played the SP of 2 or 3. What was wrong with them?

The level design of H2 was atrocious. The worst levels of H1 became standard in H2. And H3 was just boring and bland. It was part of the house I rented while working in Ireland and the two other games that came with it were AC 1 and CoD 4. Which both blew me out of the water (and brought me back to gaming in some way ;-) ).
Yeah, Halo 2 was pretty shit. The very definition of selling based on hype and marketing. Well, on the singleplayer side anyway. I loved the original though, very unique look and gameplay along with cool wide-open levels. Much better than most shooters we get today.

I played 3 at a friends and it seemed much the same, very neutered level design and ugly graphics, bland story full of retreading.

Haven't played any since, though as I said if they were on PC I would likely have bought them at some point.

I smiled when I read this.

I'll perhaps watch the cutscenes on YouTube at most.
I'm not an online player, so as always, I'll wait 1 (or 2 years tops) to get the game cheaper, just to play the campaign. I have many good games still waiting for me... ;)
I don't own a console, obviously there is no point in buying Halo 4 today or tomorrow or any other day thereafter. Also there's roughly a metric fuckton of superior shooters on the PC, so I wouldn't buy it even if there was a PC port.
