Of course now my sony vaio refuses to read the disc :(
I've got a sneaking suspicion that a sony vaio isn't exactly up to scratch in the dvd drive department....

Definitely a great game and I played on PS2 but didn't finish it, unfortunately it wasn't a huge success like GTA so there has been no sequel for it.
You should google for how to clean your laptop disc drive. Could be dirt preventing the laser to move with precision. It might just do the trick!
Maybe you could send the game to me and I could test it and see if it's the game or not ;)
You can get a digital copy from GG for 15$ :

Didn't like it.

As for the dvd drive: try updating the firmware, helped a lot for me (wasn't a Sony Vaio, just a general dvd drive, but it might help).

I'm still thinking of picking it up during a Steam sale, but I did not enjoy it when it first came out.
I found it on sale with SecuRom so it looks like I'm going to have to wait a while before I can play it.

Cool thanks I'll definitely do that. I only have to go out and buy a compressed N2 canister. I've got a buddy in the UK that I envy terribly: I don't think they've got dust over there!
yeah played it on the ps2 when it first came out and I think it's one of R* best games. (even better than some of their GTA titles). The game is much smaller but then again every NPC in this game is unique and it's cool to see every student has her/his own line in the game. Also played it on the pc with the 360 controller not long ago :)

Also the writing is classic Dan Houser political satire/parody/ basing on the American idealism...

fat chance XD
I've heard good things about Bully, but still haven't played it. Although, I don't think it's underrated at all- it has been, and still is, really popular.

Cool I'll give that a go, but hearing the way the drive skips I'm pretty sure dust is at least part of the problem.

I still remember my first encounter with securom. Wasn't pretty - messed my pc up something fierce

I remember that I thought the controls were somewhat akward, but other than that I really enjoyed the unique theme for a sandbox game. Missions included vandalizing garden gnomes in the residential area, beating up bullies, racing 'greasers' on your bike, spying on cheerleaders and setting the lunch lady up on a date (iirc)

I vaguely remember boring lessons/minigames, the school wasn't too interesting to walk around, the controls weren't great, something about kissing ugly people and an abondoned rusting school bus or something.
But there aren't that many decent open world games around, so I'll probably give it a shot when it's on another huge sale (and I have money).
