Is it still just a dream if you wake up with a machete in hand and wearing blood-soaked clothing?

I should probably get a lawyer...
I had a dream where I kept getting accused of killing my grandma by my grandma's sister, even though I didn't kill her. It's now recurring and it's starting to get a little worrying.

Lol thanks for clarifying the kudos ;)

Also I've had a recurring dream where I tricked someone into getting killed instead of myself. (They were supposed to kill someone at a particular place where they knew I'd be. I grabbed a bystander and made him stand where they thought I'd be, so they killed him instead.)

I dreamed it probably 5 or so times before I finally decided to man up and get killed. I ended up being slowly tortured by my mother, who repeatedly stabbed me with electric kitchen knives. (Although it actually only felt like pen pricks in my dream.) Then my older sister came in and took me out of my misery by chopping my head off.

For a few minutes I could still see and hear everything that was going on, from my head lying on the table, but I couldn't react or anything.

I woke up sobbing that I didn't wanna die (I was around 7 or 8 when that happened.)

Anyone else had dreams like that??

I had a dream at a young age (around five or six) where a bunch of soldiers surrounded me and were going to execute me. I definitely woke up sobbing from that right before they pulled the trigger.

When I was around 12, I had a recurring dream where a friend and I would bike up to see a cool vampire and we would talk to him about stuff. After a series of those, I had a dream where when I went alone to see the vampire guy, but he had a look of bloodlust. It was a special vampire so it could operate during the day and in sunlight without issue. Anyhow feeling nervous, I got on my bike and pedalled away as fast as possible. Of course he turned into a bat and chased me eventually latching on to my neck. Skillfully and conveniently, I pulled out a pair of large scissors and managed to cut the bat in half while still maintaining control of my bike. The two equal halves then hit the ground and the dream ended. Never had a dream about that vampire again. Guess I really did kill him.

So now in the past week, I've dreamt I aided in a double-murder, witnessed a pedestrian hit by a car ending in a young child being killed, and now I've dreamt about being kidnapped & forcibly placed into a community based on cannibalism.

This kind of shit is not normal for me. I rarely remember my dreams, and they're rarely so morbidly specific when I do. I've got way too much stress & anger going on in my life lately. Feeling powerless, like I'm just along for the ride without any say in what happens in my life. Its been a rough last few years since losing my career to outsourcing...

I notice you said "dream" and not "nightmare"...that mean anything? ;-)

it was a good dream, i cab tell you that much.
Gosh I haven't had what I'd consider a 'nightmare' in years! I reckon part of that might be simple blessing, and another part being I don't get scared easily (this b/c I'm strong in my faith I guess, and I have a sharp understanding of who I am).

But every time I've had a dream of people trying to murder me, I always win in the dream, either by escaping, or turning the tables unto my attackers either dying or being thoroughly incapacitated! This either by a stroke of luck (Oh look! A hammer is right next to me, even though I don't carry one!) or by thinking ridiculously quickly off my feet - which I guess is luck on overload! But each way, these would be nightmares always end w/me the victor, thus not nightmares.

But for those of you who have dreams that you don't like, I'm a big believer that dreams are more than simply the brain filtering out stuff. There's always something to learn from it, be it a life lesson, or general knowledge, or knowledge to be used in the future or something. Try seeing what life lesson or bit of knowledge you can learn from the unpleasant dreams.

And while I'd normally give y'all something like Iron Maiden to listen to, I think this great old Blue Rodeo song is more fitting at the moment, specifically the 3rd verse:

I don't think I've ever committed murder before in a dream, but i know there have been murders committed in my dreams and a lot of violent acts.

The last violent dream I had was a few weeks ago, and was a product of playing too much of The Witcher and wacthing 2 a lot of That 70's Show. I was living out on a farm, and Red and Kitty were my parents, and Kelso was my best friend. One night, I'm outside, and this demon guy shows up with a hellhound to claim my soul. We have an epic sword fight, which seems to drag on and on, I kill the hellhound with my bare hands, and ends when I hack off the demon's sword arm and then be-head him. I was torn up pretty bad.

Getting the crap beat out of you in dreams isn't very fun. One time I was shot in the neck in a dream, and I woke up with a kink in my neck.

Nah, they just provide great fuel for awesome dreams. I'm always telling my house mate about my dreams, and he always looks sad and says, "I wish I had dreams".
I prefer dreams with making a new life instead of taking somebody's life :)

Those type of dreams usually end with the girl laughing at me.
