I watch and subscribe to a few lets players. One thing that annoys me though is that my New Video list in You Tube used to display the newest video posted by someone I subscribe to first and now it displays the oldest of the "New Videos" first, which I find highly annoying. Mainly cause the ones that are more than a day or so old that I haven't watched are because they are for lets plays I am not actively following. Like the Witcher 2 lets play that one guy that I subscribe to is doing. I like his stuff, but I haven't played the game yet and don't want spoilers so am not watching the LP.

Oh god, don't get me started. It took me two days to notice that had happened, and now I have so much to sift through...

As for the OP... Yeah, for my sins I do make some gaming vids. I've started doing 'proper' LPs - as in they're called "Let's Play [insert game here]".

Although last year I did do a play through of Aliens vs Predator (the old one from 1999 or 2000) with... something of a twist. I had a lot of fun with the Alien section, I have to say :-)

My question is, why is there not an option to choose how it sorts the videos in that list? It can't be that hard to implement...
Here is my channel. It's mainly comprised of game intros or how the player is introduced to the product before real gameplay takes place. The earlier content was made before youtube went HD but the later content is HD or best possible quality or resolution achievable on youtube. My original account was banned under false circumstances so the current channel is a replacement.
I've always made those for myself ever since the big codec revolution with mpeg4 (divx 3.11) in 2000'ish. When youtube came out I started posting my stuff there for myself or anyone else who might want to view or reference it.

You wouldn't have thought so. But it seems that every time YouTube implements some form of 'improvement', it ends up causing no end of hassle or annoyance.

As I mentioned to someone a few weeks ago: for a company that relies on people watching videos for its income, they sure like making it as difficult as possible to watch those videos.

The problem is, I don't think they really care.
The thing that gets to me is they are owned by Google... And in general their programs/sites are good. But yeah, every improvement youtube makes is an annoyance.
Liking your videos guys, at least you have the guts to do it, i wouldn't mind doing it but i would probably get upset that i didn't get many views or something.

Do give it a try. Being a native English speaker makes it a LOT less awkward, I'd imagine...
Adding something niche enough to be first or one of very few is also awesome, since you'll end up high in search results and having the choice between watching your stuff and nothing at all... most will choose the former, unless your style is truly horrible.
Yup. I like doing LPs of some things. With and without commentary, both live and post. Latest ones are commentaryless because a) it is a goddamn jrpg and b]) I would run out of things to say (not write in the thread) pretty fast. It kind of happened that way with SMT: Nocturne, after all.

Not quite all, but yes... most of them.

Worrying about view counts shouldn't be a big deterrent. My LP's hardly get any views, for instance, but I still do them anyway just because it's fun.

Not really. I've seen plenty of LP'ers who aren't native English speakers and are still highly entertaining. It's more of a personal drive thing than anything else.

As for the "niche" bit... it depends. I certainly wasn't the first person to put up a video on The Elder Scrolls: Arena, and it's not exactly a "niche" game, but if you search for it, despite the abundance of videos on it, my review's the first result (it doesn't even have the most views, either). And now it's sounding like I'm bragging. Sorry 'bout that. Still, if your video's good or provokes discussion (or occasionally in my case, fanboy/fangirl rage), then it'll probably get lots of views.

As for anyone who makes videos and hasn't posted them already... got links?
