jamyskis: That's the thing. The heavy discounting of many of the games on Steam is due to their being crap and hence selling like crap. While the market on the whole punishes crap games with crap sales, you will get outliers where good games don't see the deserved success and where bad games sell more than they really should have.
I disagree completely. Most good games do get a deep discount as well, there's no such distinction (good games don't get discounts, crap games do). Unless you seriously expect me to believe that Borderlands, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are "crap games" (all of these titles have already received a discount of 75% or more in Steam sales). Heck, even Morrowind got a 75% discount in one of the last sales. How is it a crap game? I bought System Shock 2 on Steam for 2 dollars (75% discount + cheaper brazilian prices). I have never seen System Shock 2 go below 50% here on GOG, correct me if i'm wrong.
The only famous games that i know of that almost never get a very good discount are Arma 2 (because of the popularity of DayZ), Skyrim and COD.
jamyskis: The Steam Summer and Autumn sales were very meagre as well, and I don't expect that the Christmas Sale there will be much better either.
Now that i agree with. The last Steam Summer sale was quite disappointing and i'm not getting my hopes up for the Christmas Sale either.
But GOG's winter sale is being quite decent in my opinion. It's far from being the best GOG sale, but it's not bad either. The only problem i have is with the daily surprise: i always get a game that i already own. I think it should at least filter out the games that you own. There are games in the Timeless Classics line-up that i'm interested in, but i just can't get them at that random surprise.
