IAmSinistar: I have to say, now that we're several days in, the daily gifts are playing out better than I expected. Not that I'm getting more that I want, but rather they are proving useful in arranging trades with other folks. So the gifts are making the forum more social, and helping new members find their way in. I'd call that a successful aspect, regardless of the others.
If only we could some how search peoples wish lists, instead of grovelling in trade threads.

I site wide secret santa would be epic! Everyone that adds to the pot will draw from the pot. (different pots for different valued games)
The site, for the people that added to the pot, would auto select one of their wish list games and pulls that from the pot.

(there has to be error/null handling to prevent people from not getting anything.. example: someone that owns EVERY game decides to put a game in the pot.. they will get a warning them that they will not beable to redeem any game but would still get the giftcode/key)

lugum: gogwiki
I perpously avoided mentioning the wiki because how many users actually used the wiki + bareffot essentials script? also that site is extremely slow... had problems with my edits timing out.

Now I have to finish around 75 games to update there... grrr.

no problems with it being slow for me. and anyone you can click on their username on the forum uses it. think a bunch of them do.

If you're using the Barefoot Essentials script, your username becomes clickable, but if you don't set up a gogwiki account all one gets out of clicking on your username is
Sorry, but no user on the wiki is known to use the name <insert uername here> on gog.com.
So, you need the script, a wishlist, a gogwiki account and making your wishlist public on gogwiki. I somehow have the feeling that a number of people would call that "too many hoops to jump through".

geoconker: When nearly everything is 50% and people still complain, we know we have a problem. Any >50% discount is supposed to be harder to get (these games stay discounted for less time - Steam uses a similar system), the difference is that GOG generally makes you buy them in bundles. It's been that way in at least the last two big sales here, so it's not something new.

The only thing I really don't like in this sale is the Daily Surprise, mainly because of the tendency of offering me games I already own.
Mostly this.

Overall, I'm satisfied with the Christmas sale, moreso than with the stupid Insomnia sale.

I got 9 games so far with a 66% discount of better from the daily deals and I am waiting to see if a handful of games I have my eyes on get a similar daily discount before I get them at 50% off if they don't.

I guess the sale didn't induce me so far to spend over an hundred dollars to get all the games I don't have, but from my perspective, this isn't a bad thing (as my backlog is quite large).

Well, GOG games, at least the classic ones, being cheap already at normal prices and almost all of them now discounted 50% or more.. how could I complain?

I myself picked up Rise of the Triad and Shadow Warrior reboots from the first day special for $15 and Thief 2 from the mystery box for $2.49. Oh and Icewind Dale 2 for $5. And there's quite a few deals still to be had.

I'm good, thanks. :)

Yes, it's your official GOG wishlist, but does everybody maintain one? I don't (don't see the point to).

And since sign ups on gogwiki are disabled, I think it's more than just a few minutes if you don't have a gogwiki account as you'd need to get in touch with the admins to set you up.

It really isn't a straightforward and simple (one or two steps) process to have a public wishlist, plus it'll be on gogwiki which is a separate site, i.e. one more thing that could turn people off from doing it.

I have a wishlist, but I don't use it as a wishlist. Instead, I add games to the wishlist that seem interesting but that I would like to do some more research on before I decide whether to buy them or not.

In addition to the fact that getting my wishlist on the gog wiki is a hassle, I also don't want to put it there because I'll probably wind up not wanting to get half the games that are on it.

EDIT:
Forgot to mention that I agree that I don't see the point in maintaining the wishlist as an actual wishlist. Nobody'll see it but me anyway unless I bother to put it on the gog wiki.

kids these days...
Not lacking. I just bought everything last year.

ditto. XD
I don't mind but if the sale comes and goes and I don't get one daily deal offer that I don't already own I may have to get a little upset.
Compared to the Fall Promo, it isn't very interesting; aside from the random deals that never give me anything I want and don't own, it's a weekend sale (50% off! Occasionally more!) with a wider selection. I wouldn't call it lacking--if you have games on your wishlist, this is a good time to get them, and unlike the Fall sale, you don't have to wait around and hope a game you want comes up--but it does make it feel like a bit of an anticlimax.

For flash and presentation, it's a bit of a ho-hum. And I almost missed the part about most of the rest of the catalog being on sale.

As for the mystery box, I picked up one game to gift (not super-interested in it myself) and passed on the rest.

But hey - I'm not gonna gripe about 50% off damn near everything in the DRM-free catalog.
