Really Knee?

You just call in monsters and have their abilities try to scare everyone away from the house. Why is it confusing?

Never heard of Desktop Dungeons.

It's not confusing, you're just powerless, the game never really worked out its mechanics, so you just put ghosts in places that look like they work and hope. It's a poor game, no strategy, just a series of confusing events until someone says well done, you won.

Detlik: Hi everybody,
I just want to start some thread where we could share interesting finds, because it happened often on this forum that you recommended game to me I had no idea existed and it provided great hours of fun for me. To start (recently recommended to me by you) I love Desktop Dungeons :)

WellImHereNow: One i can think of is "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" which is a kind of horror game bases on a book but be warned this game is very rare to get a hold of and can cost a pretty penny to buy now.
I did some looking since I've played this long ago and enjoyed it. I've never bought anything from this site so I'm not sure how they are. They are selling I have no mouth for $7.77 US (can convert to Pounds or Euros) in download or cd. I'm tempted to buy, but I'm in no mood to see if I would get screwed lol.

Edit: forgot link duhhh

Hhhmmm if this is legit than the 8 bucks are a steal! :-) Going to test if I'm going to get ripped or not... ;-)

Edit: I see a lot of stuff on there that they're selling for $7.77 US that is free to download from Abandonia

Shira Oka - Second Chances (really good game, check it out)

Ancient Domains Of Mystery (postcardware roguelike)

Crusader Kings (Paradox's best game imo)

Fort Zombie (quite fun)

Rig'n'Roll (I got addicted to this...)

Culpa Innata (very underrated game)

Still Life (good point'n'click)

Xenus 2 (better than Far Cry imo)

Actually, Abandonia tends to replace download links with GOG gamepage for games sold here.

Maybe, but for $1.50, which it usually is around sale times, it's worth it, at least for me. I didn't find it very hard to play, and I felt like I was controlling it. Different tastes, I guess. :)
*dusts off gloves*

Darkwind: War on Wheels. Turn based car combat/racing strategy game with physics.

SillyHollow: I've got one that I'm almost sure of that know one ever heard of but damn this game is fine... Treasure of the Rudras for the SNES. One of the best JRPG's of that time BY FAR! ( I know it's no PC game but you'll need a PC to play it... does that count? ;-) )
Sounds interesting, and the prepatched game was easy to find. :) I looked at the wikipedia article, so does the magic system resemble e.g. Ultima Underworld system where the spells were created with runes?

Then this thread seems to be working. ;)

I haven't heard of almost any of these games (even Unreal World even though I'm from the same country as the game), except "I Have No Mouth..." which I have somewhere in my closet along with all the other PC games waiting there, but have not played it yet. Too many good games, too little time...

Well no actually, this is how it works:

The Mantra system (magic system) works with words or letter combinations. So in the beginning of the game you can just type in a random set of words, save it and then a spell comes out. There are millions of combinations in the game so there's always that chance of 'finding' a good spell.

In the game you'll find old pages with words on them, when you find those words and type them in the Mantra system you essentially find a new spell. The cool thing is that the game has (similar like Final Fantasy) the spells divided in strength like:

Blizzard
Blizzaga
etc

So in Treasure of the Rudras when you have a Blizzard spell and know what the tier 2 and 3 names are (blizzaRD compared to blizzaGA) and you find a Fire spell you can add the tier 2 and 3 spells yourself. (Just type in Firaga for instance and presto, a tier 2 fire spell!)

There are much much more spells than in Final Fantasy so adding the Tier 2,3 etc spells yourself doesn't 'hurt' the progress of the game.

Besides that the level of animation during the battles in INSANE compared to almost every other RPG.

It has multiple endings and you can choose from 3-4 characters in the beginning which you want to begin the game with. So choosing to start with a magic character alters outcome of the game completely compared to start with a warrior character. (You'll meet the other characters during the course of the story line)

I got go on and on about this one, just try it and be amazed with this hidding gem
