Man, I'd love it if I had a girlfriend that came home drunk every night. Well okay I'd love it if I had a girlfriend, but one who came home drunk every night would be extra special.

pimpmonkey2382: I thought you meant venereal disease. :P
LOL, I dislike both Valentine's Day and venereal disease. But seriously, I wasn't ready for how depressing this day would be until the day arrived, even though it's depressing every year.
At the risk of inviting disaster, might I ask, why drunk?....

I'm going to play tinyE for a while and say "Because she would've been drinking, duh."

HypersomniacLive: It sounds like returning the gesture of love.
I understood the reasoning behind it. I just like my gestures to come from me wanting to return it, not me being (more or less) forced to return it.

And by the way, I do make sweets on a relatively regular basis, so people around me don't need to feel like I'm holding out on them.

Nice, what kind of sweets do you make? And how far out does the radius of "around me" reach?

Lionel212008: Well, I was in the restaurant today having lunch and quite a few people were gawking at me. It was weird. There was also this creepy looking girl who would stare. I checked the mirror and there was nothing on my face either.

Still, it sucks that the short lobo guy in the office is 'engaged' and I am still single. So met a hooker and banged her (not my proudest moment). Valentine's day is especially depressing, I agree.

pimpmonkey2382: When in doubt, whip it out.
Your words reminded me of this song.

hedwards: TBH, I think that if you're a psychopath with no actual human emotions that this might work; but in practice it completely ignores the way that the brain functions. Ignoring Valentines day is really only viable for people in a relationship with people that are also not interested in VD.

The reason why there's so much bitching about it is that it represents a status threat and once you've processed the dozens of reminders, you can't really unprocess them, so yeah.

Also, fuck google for their mandatory Google+ account if you want to post on youtube.
If you are single and don't give a fuck about Valentines Day(for you, it's like like every other day) that doesn't mean you are a psychopath or in denial. Some people enjoy being single and it's totally natural for them. And you should give some credit to Cormoran. Trolling on Valentines Day is pure genius(of course only someone with no empathy can do such a thing).

hedwards: It's a crass and generally mean spirited holiday. It was started by the Church as a way of muscling out the pagans from their holiday at the same time and if anything it's gotten even worse since then.

I'm just going to say it since nobody else has. Valentine's Day just plain sucks. If you're single, it's a reminder that nobody loves you and implied that nobody ever will. If you can get a date, it's a reminder that you're not in a proper relationship and probably not doing very well. If you are in a relationship, then you have to be super romantic and spend a ton of money or you're a jerk. And if your the woman in the relationship, there's something wrong with you if your SO isn't willing to go bankrupt on a bunch of genitalia references.
I thought you meant Vampire Dairies :P.

When I was single, I liked VD, because single girls felt bad about their status and were looser than usual so it was a good time to get laid. There is a silver lining to most things after all ;).

Now, I don't mind it as my gf is as unceremonial about it as I am.

I worked late on VD and so did she. We got home, watched a movie, admitted to each other that we both bought the card, but hadn't had time yet to write it and that we should get it done by Sunday.

One of the many reasons why I'm still with this woman.

The best thing about V-day is that you can buy discounted candies a few days later :]

EndlessKnight: I don't like the shallow commercialism of Valentine's Day, nor do I enjoy society guilt-tripping people into having to do something on this day. Genuine acts of love towards another carry far more weight, than forced action. Also, why is the onus so very often on the man to do the giving? I say, force the children to serve their parents dinner and wait hand and foot on them. Having to watch their parents be all mushy is punishment enough for all their misdeeds that year. :P

Also, bah! Humbug!
I agree. Valentines day is more an excuse to overcharge for chocolate, food, and floral arrangements then a celebration. It should be a holiday around passion for people and things. Like a day to appreciate great art or great discoveries or people who had great passion for something. in lieu of appreciating ones significant other.

The only VD that I know of is this:

A bit of everything. Fudge, different kinds of chocolate to cookies and these kinds of things, which I don't know the name of, but they are delicious, or these, which I also don't know the name of in English.
Sadly, I don't think Vatican city is close enough to count as "around me" :P
Never had it, I'm glad I missed the party. Oh, I didn't even read the OP first post ;p

The irony is that the holiday that it replaced was all about getting singles together for a happy life, rather than making them feel bad about themselves for not having somebody else. Sure, Lupercalia isn't exactly PC by modern standards, but it did sound like a crap load of fun, hordes of naked singles running about town trying to meet somebody.

Me too!
