Well there are Valentino's in Italy that are men.

I didn't even realize it was Valentine's Day until I walked past a big Valentine's Day advertisement in a shop window. It was a bit of an ironic moment because at that moment I was munching on a large bar of chocolate I'd just bought for myself*.
And now that I'm home and seeing GOG's sweet Valentine's sales deals, I'm most certainly not complaining about this day. Off to the shopping cart!

*according to statistics, annual consumption of chocolate in Switzerland has gone up by 100g per person per year, so I'm trying to keep up with my countrymen. Currently I only eat Belgian vegan sugar-free chocolate which is very unpatriotic but it still counts as chocolate .

Pass some of that great Belgian Chocolate this way. We only get our Mexican Hershey Bars here. Which is lousy compared to the cheapest Belgian Chocolate.

I used to hate Valentine's Day, when I was single. The reason: I used to be happy every day of the year, except that day. In fact, people found me amusing because I was always happy. Some even asked me if I was always happy. I always said that I was not happy on Valentine's Day.

Now that I'm married, I guess Valentine's Day is like any other happy day, since I'm not happy everyday.

At the risk of losing my Swiss passport and Eurosnob card, I openly admit that I really -like- Hershey chocolate, tangy chemical taste and all. Maybe it's because I've spent the first couple years of my life in the US and therefor my taste buds were able to mutate and adapt Fallout style against any and all genetic predisposition.

This reminds me, my Chinese copy of Tintin should arrive today. Also, waffles.

I don't like the shallow commercialism of Valentine's Day, nor do I enjoy society guilt-tripping people into having to do something on this day. Genuine acts of love towards another carry far more weight, than forced action. Also, why is the onus so very often on the man to do the giving? I say, force the children to serve their parents dinner and wait hand and foot on them. Having to watch their parents be all mushy is punishment enough for all their misdeeds that year. :P

Yes, it really bothers me. If you need a special day to express your affection for the people closest to you, then you have a problem. And if you need to buy something to express your affection to those people, then you have another problem.

What bothers me is all the advertising demanding that having the above problem is normal. Just so they can sell roses in February at obscene prices.

Looks like it was redeemed. I'm surprised that it said invalid code. It's also a bit odd of a coincidence who redeemed it.

Are you supposed to get a different message when a code has been properly redeemed?

And is the coincidence meant in relation to the "Invalid Code"?

That's a bit of an unfair statement. I think most people would rightly feel offended by having their love for their partner put into question for no other reason than greed. You can try and ignore it, but it's difficult when every other TV abd radui commercial, and every poster is essentially saying "you need to buy worthless shit, and if you don't do what we say, you're a failure as a boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife".

To put it into perspective, what people may think or say behind my back doesn't bother me, but if a complete stranger came up to me and screamed in my face that I was a failure as a partner, I'd probably break his teeth, assuming my better half didn't beat me to the punch.

It's not just that,but for people who do have a negative association with VD, they're associating themselves with that as well. Which is one reason why GOG's decision to give a game away along with the sale is probably a wise decision.

I'm not sure if I should read anything into their decision on which game to go away though...

Personally, this is probably the best VD I've had in quite a while as I'm actually making some headway dating, but really the only way to win is to either ignore it completely, or find a way of making a mockery out of it.
