golea: I thought Valentin is the saint of florists and shopkeepers, that sell you overpriced, tacky crap.

Kazica: As quoted from Odin

"Brothers and sisters Today is the Feast of Vali! This feast originally celebrated the death of Hothr at the hands of Vali. This late winter festival relates to the triumphant return of the light of the sun over the dark days of winter. Today it is traditional celebration of the family. A time for the customary exchange of gifts with loved ones. It is also a time for the renewal of marriage vows and an occasion for marriages! All Hail the Gods and All Hail the mighty all-father!".

So..yeah it's not all about the cheesy love fest that's gone WAY tooo commercial for my liking.

Lionel212008: Aw, dang...Odin's real?
depends on your beliefs :P. But it's a page I follow on Facebook. Always had an affinity with the Norse mythos and religion.
And a bit of good Valentine's Day news from my home state, proving there is at least some love in the air.
I quite like it. Got some candy earlier today, so I'm all for days that involves me getting free candy.

Let me also point out White Day, though it's on the same date as Pi Day and Steak and BJ day. Not sure which of the three you'd prefer.
I'm lucky enough to have a wife who thinks it's positively stupid to spend to money specifically for Valentine's Day. I'm thinking the 20-odd years of marriage should have convinced her by now that I love her, so an annual one-day reminder is... pointless.

I would very much appreciate White Day, but as I already celebrate Pi day, having another day on the same day would just be confusing.

*edit* Oh wait, I should have read the wikipedia entry more carefully. So white day is about men giving women candy? Then I much prefer Pi day (not that I would have anything against making sweets for someone else, I just don't like to be forced to do it).

Its only lame because I don't have anybody to spend it with. :c
I guess I'll fill the whole in my heart with more video games.

W- Will you guys be my valentines?

Edit: Also, thanks for the games. This isn't much, but I wanna give back, and its all I got. Whoever finds out where to redeem it first gets it.

Pretty much the same here. My wife and I decided a number of years ago that participating in the 'Hallmark Holiday' was stupid. Although we do like to mark the occasion with making a nice dinner (we let the kids decide what they want me to make) and toasting our appreciation of each other with a good bottle of wine.
Venereal Diseases? Why yes, I do hate them, they're nasty.

KISS principle, which is entirely apt today. : )

On White Day, the reverse happens: men who received a ‘honmei-choco (chocolate of love)’ or ‘giri-choco (courtesy chocolate)’ on Valentine's Day are expected to return the favor by giving gifts. Traditionally, popular White Day gifts are cookies, jewellery, white chocolate, white lingerie, and marshmallows.
It sounds like returning the gesture of love.

LOL - indeed!
I don't have a Venereal Disease, so I wouldn't know. However, from my knowledge of them I can't see how anyone would love one.

Yeah, my wonderful state and their extremist religion interfering with other people's happiness. You don't like gay people, fine don't date a same sex person, but leave other people alone that do.
