While I may sound biased, I am not getting tired of the indie games. Don't get me wrong, I still want TONS of good old games and there are certain games I hound certain people to get them :), it's just, to me personally, a lot of these indie games kind of remind me of the old days where you had small teams working to put out a game with little to no advertising at the time without the somewhat inflated budgets like we see today :)

Besides, it wasn't for indies, I wouldn't have games like Hotline Miami, Sword of the Stars: The Pit, Rogue Legacy, Spelunky, Knights of the Chalice (yes, it's not here but I still hope it ends up here one day :) ) , or Smugglers V (also, check out how Smugglers V made it to the top sellers list on the main page among the bonafide classics. That is freaking AWESOME, if I say so myself :D. I hope you're proud, Mr. Bauer :) ).
If GOG had never released a single indie game I doubt we would have had a dramatically higher number of classics released than now. It may even be a bit less as the indie games do bring traffic and customers to the site to help it grow. Having a bigger potential audience because of that could help companies tip towards selling here because of the higher potential customers.

I love me some indies as well. Speaking of which, the Gameboy inspired 'Two Brothers' is coming here on the 15th isn't it? Pretty badass looking action-RPG with a semi-open-world.

C'mon you can tell me... I won't tell anyone I promise. :D

Son, I ain't tellin' nothin' :P
Its funny you say those particular indie games. Most of those are games that I own and enjoy and I do love the idea that its just a couple guys(or girls) in their basement pounding out their dream. But it seems that for every good indie game there are 5-6 adventure/point and click games. Now I know there are people out there who like adventure games but when 50% of the games you put out are indie adventure games it gets old. I counted and out of the last twenty games you put out ten(maybe nine I sorta lost track) that were adventure games. My real complaint here is put out more games that I want to buy! :P I want to give you my money.

Man... I really hope so. Easily my most anticipated new release in a while.

I'd rather have a new Point and Click (a genre that a few years ago was easily considered extinct) than the hordes of Tower Defence and those platformers that have no creativity at all.

tinyE: Screw the debate, how does Potzato make those groovy degree symbols?
Don't know if it's the same on your american qwerty-keyboard, but on my german qwertz-keyboard, the degree symbol (°) is on the tilde (^) key (upper left corner, under the escape-key) and you get it by pressing shift+tilde.

Dude, I totally hear you when you talk about seeing games in a particular genre get released one after the other :). See, back when I was on your side of the fence, GOG (keep in mind that I am talking about the past hence the reason I am not using "we" :) ) had this month-long spell of nothing but real-time strategy games. Keep in mind, this was way, way before I became a staffer here and this was before the expansion into indies and the deviation from the usual Tuesday-Thursday release schedule :). Now, I don't have anything against RTS games but I can't get into them coming from a mostly turn-based background what with Fallout and Gold Box D&D games. In short, I suck at RTS games. So imagine my dismay back then when all I saw was "RTS RTS RTS RTS....even MOAR RTS!" :). Of course, that spell passed and other genres started being represented :D

On a final note for this post at least: rest assured that we are doing everything possible to bring back the classics so they may relive the glory they so wholeheartedly deserve and we're working on new games that will be classics for other folks down the line :). We got more than just adventure games in store, don't you worry :D

P.S. to my GOG bros:

Where is my classic game that I don't wanna name so people don't make posts "X CONFIRMED!" ? Seriously, y'all are slacking :P

BreOl72: I like games...I like (some) old games, I like (some) recently released indie games and I like (some) recently released AAA games.

As long as a game is "good" (always defined by my personal taste) - I don't care which label sticks upon it.

I hope, that answers your question. ;)
Pretty much what I was going to post. There could be any number of reasons why they are currently unable to add any new, er... old games, so I'd rather they add some more recent titles or Indies, instead of nothing at all.

And hey, some of those Indies are actually really fun and addictive. :D

keeveek: A little reminder, without sources, because I'm lazy

GOG promised they will stay devoted to classic games even after introducing their change

TET promised himself that GOG will release at least 1 classic game a week.

These were pinky promises, if you're intrrested.
avatar
fortune_p_dawg: Did they actually use the word 'promise?'

I find that gamers like to fling that word around when they're not getting what they want.
I think we did. And we've done what we can to hold to that promise; I think since then we've missed three weeks.

THIS THIS THIS! Today's Indie movement is about as close to the original "roots" of game making as it gets. Those days when developer teams were small, there was no real money in the business, and people were in it just because they loved video games.

I think gamers, in particular on here, should have some more respect for the Indie scene. Classic games are all nice and well, but if it wasn't for the Indie game movement, the future of video games would look really bleak.
I don't care what the game is classed, I just want game.

Especially since I'm not sure what Vangers, Sim Tower, Ascendancy, and the GOOD version of Battleship count as.

I also wish it was easier to keep track of your own wishes.

I have a Swedish keyboard and I can't for the life of me find it.
Of course I've never before felt the need for making that symbol but now I want it badly!
