wargames are something that attracts me,maybe are the mechanics, maybe the consept of said games are something different that we don't see much in tabletop games or because of the great time they can bring wen playing with friends.
since I'm a veteran of Risk and War(also played quite a bit of Warhammer 40k and Battletech) it kinda baffles me the fact that not many people that I know like then, for good reasons:they take a lot of time to set up(Warhammer and Battletech in particular),long sessions and somewhat confusing mechanics.eitherway, since I joined GOG I was certain that most people here have played at least one.
so does anyone here also share this hobby of mine?

PS:in Battletech, the Commando is really underappreciated.I was able to immobilize an Awesome with it

well, we have Blood Bowl league here on GOG forum - and that is far more brutal than any wargame :)

Outside computers i am very familiar with WHFB / WH40k - but havent invested any money on the miniature games. I do own huge load of wh40k pnp rpg books + novels though.

Its unfortunate but being adult and having small kids has really put me in tight spot timewise - i used to play far more boardgames earlier.

btw you -are- aware of Mechwarrior Tactics? https://mwtactics.com/

oh lol, maybe i should read the posters name before posting :)
well,BB is pretty damn awesome(not as awesome as 40k)I'm loving playing in the league, even though I'm the worst player this season :P.as for Mechwarrior Tactics,it's seems that it's not a cheap cash in,P2W game, since TotalBiscuit and AngryJoe are playing it and doing live stream.I'll try it out someday.
I've played the demo of Dawn of War 2 and I really like it.stays true to the lore(even though my experience of the tabletop is not very big,as I said,I play more War and Risk)

I make it a policy not to read posts with atrocious spelling and grammar, so I'll just respond to the title of the topic.
Back in the day I used to play Warhammer and loved it.
Nowadays none of my friends have the time to play anymore, so I don't play anymore either.
sorry for the grammar and spelling.as you can see,English is not my native language.

Nor is it mine, but just using capital letters and periods and such to break up the wall of text makes it a lot easier to read.
And I don't mind, I was just explaining that in case I missed any questions in the opening post :P
There are probably several wargamers on this forum, there are several roleplaying game players and the forum tends to attract a fairly geeky crowd.

Talking about 40k - have you ever played any Battlefleet Gothic or Epic Armageddon? Epic Armageddon has always interested me, but i never got into it nor knew anyone who played. However i actually do own a box of Battlefleet Gothic and must say that is my favorite 40k game (pnp not counting). I wish they made 1:1 computer version of it some day.
I don't recall playing Epic Armageddon or Battlefield Gothic because the last time that I've played was 4 years ago.the last 40k game I remember playing was a skirmish.

I was playing Battletech before George Lucas had his hissy-fit. But dang, it's been almost 30 years since I last played. PC games came along, friends dispersed to college and other places, and that was that.

I'm overplaying it a little bit but he (Lucas Inc./whatever name they used) laid claim to the term 'droid' and the name went from "Battledroids", as seen on my old box, to "Battletech" as it's mostly known these days.
AFIK the term "droid" existed before Star Wars.eitherway,Battletech is awesome and I have to ask, what is your favourite faction and mech?
House Davion and Commando FTW.

No idea. That box hangs around as a relic from the past, and the game hasn't seen action since, say, 1985 or so. My friends were more role players and not wargamers so even then we didn't play as much as I'd have liked to. But I can't bring myself to part with it, probably because it's 'droids' and not 'mech'. ; )
Talking about giant robots - i am really hoping GoG eventually get Heavy Gear 2. Thats brilliant game and i wish someone made remake of it.
