Tell your friend this: when smoking, separate yourself from other people, go and be by yourself. Pay attention then while you go slowly, to every little detail connected with your smoking, how the cigarette feels when you hold it in your hand, the smoke that fills your lungs when you inhale it. Be attentive to every minute detail of it. Make it a meditation practice. See what that does.
Here's a motivation tip that worked for me, by the way (and, like the rest of them, may or may not work for you): I could live with a girl who smokes, but I know some girls who wouldn't have a smoking boyfriend. Also, if you can't pull girls because you are or will become fat, you'll have a tough time losing weight if your lungs are fucked: when I was in the military, I saw guys in their twenties whose muscles could easily have allowed them to run three miles if they weren't let down by the lungs all the time.

Not really quitting if you swapped smoking tobacco in exchange for weed
I have never smoked before but from my family who do smoke, here's some tips.

Get out of the envioroment: If you are constantly around people (friends) who smoke, time to leave, even if they say they won't offer you, just being there is an old habbit, take a break from them.

Make sure you want to stop: If you really do want to stop, it'll be easier, not easy, just easier.

Don't use Nicoret: Everyone I know who's quit smoking by using this product are now addicted to it years down the line. So be careful.

Yeah, I've heard similar things about Nicorette. You may save your lungs but apparently the dose of nicotine is so high that the physical addiction may get even worse.

Popsicles
Today has by far been the worst so far, Only thing that stopped me going for cigs was my car is boxed in (literally have about 2" at the back bumper and 3" at the front, if that is the case tomorrow ill be having words) and it is hammering down with rain.
My resolve failed me.

Will try again soon though, probably after this packet lol.
Have you tried watching those disgusting Stop Smoking commercials they are airing here in the US. The woman with no face gets me every time. Though, if the sticker shock of a pack of smokes has not cured you, I don't know how anything else will. If a pack of smokes is still too cheap move to Hawaii, I noticed they were $10/pack there during my last visit.

Only thing on my pack is a half burned cig with "smoking may reduce the blood flow and cause impotence" and a big ass "SMOKING KILLS" on the front.

$10..... not bad, according to XE these cost me just under $14

They get boring and samey after a while, and you learn to ignore them. I found myself much more motivated by thoughts of the (potential) positives of quitting than the negatives of continuing the habit, anyway.
Good luck. I wish everyone stopped smoking, thus I could enjoy going out in the winter. Right now you'll suffocate by all that smoke that floats around in the bars of my country.

Gerin: Hi - a friend is trying to stop smoking and is allergic to Chantix and the gum and patches. Do you who have walked in her shoes have a suggestion I can pass on? Is she doomed to doing it the hard way? Thank you for any input.
