Matruchus: I know there was no news coverage about this outside of the former Yugoslav countries.
Really...? I can't speak for the whole world of course, but this has been one of the major topics this last week in all the Scandinavian and British news media which I follow.
avatar
Matruchus: Unfornately almost no help from Western Europe which is not good.
This list (not complete, as I'm aware of efforts not listed) shows otherwise:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_Southeast_Europe_floods#International_response

It's great that you're helping to create awareness about this major disaster, but talking as if the situation is currently being ignored outside the immediate region isn't very helpful (and belittles the relief efforts underway).

Im not belitlling anybodys efforts im just summing up what I saw on Serbian news - Serbian state television about foreign relief efforts and they did state they are very dissapointed by EU and several western countries. Which doesn't mean that relief efforts are not coming. Its just we don't need a repeating of Haiti and New Orleans disaster response in Europe.

Matruchus: Tumbs up Tanzania!
Just so you know, he probably isn't from Tanzania. He likes to use obscure or unpopulated areas as his location. I still remember when he was using Midway Atoll as his location, even though nobody actually lives on Midway. :P

Anyway, I don't live in Serbia, but I do have relatives there (thankfully, none of them are in the areas that were affected by the recent floods) and I am Serbian by origin. Serbia is a beautiful country with much to offer, but it's not exactly prosperous (although the economic situation is significantly better than it was in the 90's; they don't call it the "Balkan Tiger" for no reason).

If you plan to move there, I have two pieces of advice for you: don't be a vegetarian and don't be a member of the LGBT movement. I don't say the former because people hate vegetarians or anything, but because meat is a significant part of Serb diet. If you don't eat meat, life in Serbia is going to be very difficult for you. As for the latter...well, homophobia is very widespread in Serbia and members of the LGBT movement are frequently subject to violence by football hooligans. Actually, you should probably avoid those guys no matter who you are, as they're always looking for a fight.

Regardless, best of luck to you and I hope you'll enjoy yourself there. Adun Toridas! ;)

Same for Finnish TV news, yes it has gotten coverage several times.

I presume many TV and news stations use the same channels for getting their newsfeed, so as long as the news appear in those newsfeeds...
This picture is making its rounds among my German friends, maybe it can also help others to make their donations:

So far I liked it most on Clipperton Island. It is amazing GOG includes it or Kingman Reef.
(I have Tanzania for different reason)

When Niko is not on a muderous Rampage against the criminal underwolrd of Liberty City (New York) he is actually a nice guy. Good and Bowling,Pool, and extremly loyal and cares for his friends and family. Even a friend of his got killed by an assassin he will stop at nothing to bring justice to him and the one who sent the assasssin.
Niko Bellic isn't from Serbia! At least his voice actor isn't. Serbian lines in this game sound awfully stilted, and they got some sounds wrong. The voice actor is probably Russian, which isn't the same as Serbian.

Worse the actor is an American named Michael Hollick. Still you got to give em credit for at least trying to give a Eastern European Accent and language. The Actress Natalie Wood, Who is of Russian Decent mind you, plays a Puerto Rican in the West Side Story:

Niko is a strictly Croatian name. So I guess makers of GTA4 wanted him to be more "Balkanian" than "Serbian".
And the actor wasn't that terrible, I've heard worse attempts.
Also many people mistake Serbian for Russian when they hear it, which is silly because Russians do have very specific accent. Even more silly for me is when Serbians hear me speak Slovak and they ask if that's Russian. XD
