Hello, fellow GOGers.

I always preferred buying a physical discs, but lately the ease of buying music online has been calling me...

So, since I guess most here are used to buying online I would like to know if you have any online mp3 music store recomendations. I can't use Amazon 'cause I'm outside the USA and I want to stay away from iTunes for its fuzzy info on DRM and it demands my credit card at registration (I would rather they don't store my info).

So what else is out there? Any help?

This is quite tricky. Currently i can't find unified online music store (equivalent to Steam), maybe because of different record label. Most artist / band under major record label tend to choose amazon and iTunes as digital distributor.
For indie music it's easy, there are soundcloud, bandcamp and cd baby; there's no restriction from the artist part.
Many smaller labels have their own digital online-shops (as example , [url=http://saddle-creek.com/store/]Saddle Creek, ), so it's always a good idea to check artists or labels homepage. Lately I buy from [url=http://www.7digital.com/]7digital.com, because you can re-download your albums and the german page has better sales for me then amazon.de .

Beside this, if you love indie music you maybe also want to check . It's a shop for canadian indie music. And then we have [url=http://bandcamp.com/]bandcamp, always good to take a look. Years ago I used emusic.com, but they raised the prices and lost many good labels, so their abo system for exploring new music was not more interesting for me.

Can't you use Amazon with a fake US adress? I do it for Kickstarter and the occasional game.
Beatport
Juno Download

EDIT: DRM-free.

For iTunes, there isn't any DRM on the actual music itself anymore, but it's only 128 bitrate which is mediocre. And you can delete your credit card info as soon as you've registered (though it's a hassle, they REALLY want to keep your card on file), or use gift cards instead. I got a bunch of gift cards as a present and I was able to get all of my info out of their system.

But I'm also interested in stores that sell better-quality stuff... once I use up these cards.
Many thanks guys! I'll check some of those and see if they are friendly with my side of the world. Checking directly with the labels is also a good idea, I hadn't thought of that lol.

Well, I can use Amazon for Kickstarter and for buying physical things without problems. I can't use it for buying "download" things like games or mp3s :(, doesn't it check that your Credit Card's address matches the address you input?

I'm using a fake US adress for my Amazon.com purchases. Also for the payment details. Amazon doesn't check it (why bother, they get the money).

But I've only bought games that can be activated elsewhere, never music there. I buy my music on Amazon.de because *.com doesn't have my bands. I would love to use the *.com, because of all the perks it offers.
