My most fave game of all time was Zelda; not the 64/3-D type, but the ones on the old Nintendo and on GameBoy Advance SP. I like the drawn graphics and the 3/4 view. Anyone know of any games in the catalog here that would be similar?? Thanks for any replies!

Here? Nope, not really, not given the Non-3D limitation. Zelda-esque games are generally exclusively relegated to consoles, or at least were. I'd say BG&E if you wanted 3D.

Thanks. BG&E?? What's that?
Beyond Good & Evil. It has a control system very similar to Ocarina of Time. It's also a cracking game.
Zelda Classic with all the mods.

Can't really get more "Zelda Like" than that.

Boy! You're right about that one! Does look kind of 'dated' nowadays... Thanks for the tip!

If you can, you should also try Alundra on PSX.
At first sight, it's just a Zelda-clone, and it is, but it's really fun and very well done.
Here's a screen.

Yeah, that is a cool screen shot alright! But PSX?? Not sure I'd ever find that around here...
But I really like the GOG gang; I'm still exploring their catalog in hopes of finding more stuff that I like.
Thanks for your post.

Do you happen to know of any other sites where I can pick up non-3D games??
Tnx,

Dink Smallwood is 2D pc game that is reputed to have some Zelda-like qualities. It used to be commercial but is now freeware.
I have yet to try it.
How about some Metroidvania-type games? They have a lot in common with Zelda-style adventures, they're just played from the side instead of the top. Cave Story, La Mulana or Aquaria might appeal to you (and the first two are freeware).

And Aquaria is worth the price for the music alone.

Sure you could, the pawnshop by my house has a bunch of Playstations 1 and Playstation 1 games. Or maybe you could Ebay them. Unless you don't want to really have to look, then disregard what I just said.

Yeah, if you can get past the 3D, Beyond Good and Evil is the correct answer. It's probably the best Zelda game ever made.

I've never tried this game with a Playstation emulator, but it should work. As for the game itself, yeah, eBay must be the good place.

Well, it's not a 'Zelda' game, but it's a very entertaining puzzle game, maybe you've heard about it already: World of Goo.
The game can be bought directly on the official site, without DRM.
