And on the topic of TES3: Assuming you don't hate Steam for no apparent reason, TES3 is available on there. It works perfectly, excluding the script extender(s), although those might work now as well.

This forum is ... Pretty much user-moderated, you don't seem to actually grasp that little concept. When you ask man on a street a question, it's not saved in a database, nor it does make even more mess between topics. You're really bringing rage of the others upon yourself, did you notice?

Kyojinmaru, it's your responsibility to read the FAQ before you post. And if we as the community don't point that out, we'll end up with a bunch of crap threads (like this one). Which can cause low signal to noise, and make the forum useless.
So, instead of being a jerk to the first person who pointed out the FAQ and beg thread (and everyone else in this thread so far), you could instead pay attention to what people are saying to you.

There is plenty of things wrong with it when it's done in a presumptuous and self-important manner like this.
Copy-pasting FAQ sections (or linking to them) without any real explanations send a message that:
1. You consider yourself to be so much more important than the other guy, that you can't bother to actually write the post in your own words.
2. You want to tell others what to do, using common rules as an excuse.
3. You assume that the other person is not aware of the common rules, rather than that you misunderstood his or her intent.
This is especially true if the issue at hand is trivial and you don't have any real stake in the question. It's one thing to ask the person politely, it's entirely different thing to pose as an authority and representative of "the community". In the latter case, you begging for rudeness in response.
I bet if cogadh said "could you please post questions like this in the dedicated thread", things would play out much different and without any drama.

The Zenimax ones are not impossible. Any D&D title however is in deep, deep legal limbo.

1. Yep, can't be bothered to write / explain the same basic stuff each and every week for some other guy without getting back to standard copy+past sooner or later. Nope, doesn't imply the writer is better or more important at all.
2. Pointing to common rules is in need of an excuse? No, at least not in my book. But actually ignoring them is alright I guess?
3. We're on the internet. Lack of face / body expression, hearing the tone of a voice was, still is and always will be, the basis for a possible misunderstanding. If you felt misunderstood, you can point that out / make your point clearer. Doing so with rudeness mostly won't help you.

- nobody had any real stake in the (first) question here as the answers are already available.
- implying of an authority behavior while updating said question with the community opinion option AND spicing it up with plain rudeness, is just uncalled for. Besides that it violates your own point 3 of implying / misunderstanding.
- these boards haven't gotten much mod activity. Simply because it isn't necessary - and not because "regular" members have taken that part.
- ... begging for rudeness in response? On 99% of all other boards I would agree. A flamewar would have started. Not so here. Now guess again why we haven't seen more mod work around here....

Although I'm sure you had the best intentions, abandonware is illegal, and you shouldn't link to abandonware sites here. If someone downloads some of these games from an abandonware site like that, they have less reason to buy them when/if they show up on GOG.

Not to mention, there is some question of legally actionable exposure for GOG if they allow forum users to post things like that. Best for all of us to just avoid it entirely and not post links to illegal software. The last thing we want is to hurt GOG in any way.

Funny thing is that I've seen some abandonware sites removing games that are on GOG, or specifically linking them here. I'm pretty sure one of my favorite sites, which I won't mention, doesn't even have any GOG titles, but they also don't allow for any ESA titles to be downloaded either, such as the old Sierra adventure titles and whatnot.

The removal of/linking to GOG titles is most likely because, by definition, they are no longer abandonware as long as they are being actively marketed somewhere. Most abandonware sites do have altruistic intentions, that is to make available those titles that are otherwise impossible to find through any legal means. I'm sure most of those sites would be perfectly happy to shut down if GOG actually offered everything they have in their library of impossible to find games, but that doesn't change the fact that what they do currently offer is illegal and associating GOG with sites like that through forum posts will only hurt GOG in the long run.

No intention of doing anything wrong with the site post. I will refrain. They in fact link to gog for items such as the MM Collection. They also charge for items as well. I was not aware they were much different than gog at all.

Also would like to add that I have legal disk copies of all the software - gog just makes it easy for me as I no nothing about working with DOSBOX and for a few bucks I have all my old games up and running on my vista box.
