oasis789: jade empire?
Good one.

tarangwydion: Thanks, but first-person perspective often gives me motion/simulator sickness (which is why I play Thief: Deadly Shadows, another excellent stealth game, strictly in third-person perspective). Besides, I like the stealth gameplay in Splinter Cell, and I just kind of hoped there is a Ninja RPG game with stealth like that.
You can play Skyrim as a sneaky archer/dagger guy in 90% of situations and from a third-person perspective.

Granted I only played Jade Empire twice, but I do not recall seeing any Ninjas there, unless you call Silk Fox's outfit as Ninja outfit (which I think it is not). I see Jade Empire characters as wuxia fighters, not ninja.

Wow, I didn't know that. I thought Skyrim is strictly firs-person perspective game. Thanks for the info! I will consider Skyrim in the future (my current ancient laptop is not powerful enough to play it).

Don't worry about waiting for Skyrim - it's a Bethesda game, and the last I heard wasn't really playable yet. The game-breaking bugs should be fixed sometime after the first expansion comes out.

Actually, every Elder Scrolls game since Morrowind is playable in 3rd person perspective. It sounds like you might have a lot of catching up to do :-P

funny thing is, I think most of those bugs came from patching it :D

Or Bethseda fixed the bugs that managed to overcome the other bugs, thus triggering the bugs those bugs prevented. Dragons were ALWAYS flying backward, but no one noticed 'cause a bug caused them to look like they were flying forward.

Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all play in third-person, but only Skyrim is the only one that's actually playable the whole game like that. Stealth is a lot better in Skyrim too, though Oblivion would probably work for you if you could deal with playing in first-person.

Actually we already kind of already had that. The patch that added extra DRM broke the fan-made patch that stopped CTDs, missing textures and overwhelming purpleness.

Oh, Bethesda. We love your games so much, and wish you had a QA department so we could actually play them.

@StingingVelvet
Where in Morrowind couldn't you play 3rd-person? I'm curious, I never found that.

Darn... it seems like I do have a lot of catching up to do...
Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions! I always thought one would be great. The mods for mount and blade and Oblivion I will check into. I will have to do my second run through Jade empire (even though not ninja close enough.

Has anyone played the newest Tenchu (360) ? I might get this or Ninja blade while some developer creates a ninja Rpg

I already got over 100 hours on Skyrim its very playable for me

Yea that would be fun but I think my next build will be a two handed, archer, heavy armor, smithing conjurer!

Not really ninjas, but I always like to recommend this game:

In theory, yes. In reality, 3rd person view, especially in Oblivion, is close to unuseable especially when trying to fight or pick up items. Skyrim's implementation is much better. Morrowind, no comment since I've never been able to play more than a few minutes at a time, and always in first-person.

Also, Fenixp, sadly it's not an RPG and the art style may be too cutesy for your tastes but have you looked at Mini Ninjas?

Not really, there are mods to make Morrowind over the shoulder and to give you crosshair in Oblivion. They're not even hard to install or find or anything. While I prefer first person view, I HAVE heard of people who play TES games only in TPP.
I do only remember "Last Ninja" as the best Ninja game ever... but it is not really an RPG, more an Action Game :)

Ah, mods, I might have known. Those pesky modders get everywhere ;)

I can freely admit ignorance there and say I had no idea that type of mod existed. But then I didn't care about third-person enough to look for them I guess ;)
