Just tried the new free DDO today and I can say I'm impressed, beats Guild Wars for me anyway. Dungeons, a mostly complete 3.5 ruleset, and some surprisingly mature general chat.
Anybody else have good or bad things to say about the new version? Feel free to post your character names if you wish and maybe we can get together in-game for some dungeon crawling.

I was thinking about trying it, but there's always that concern of how the latancy will be for me =/
You'd think this would be using 4.0 instead of 3.5, but I actually like 3.5 more, so I'm not complaining.
Not too sure why you'd think Guild Wars pales in comparison to this. Based on what I've seen (I've seen too much, apparently) on DDO, I still think Guild Wars is better. I'm interested in comparing this to LoTRO, but that involves me trying DDO out for myself.
Thought about exploring it, I don't like MMOs in general but one day I will be surprised, and no fees is a bonus.
Depends if I can grab the client and associated data AND the bandwidth to play without ruining my internet cap :|

DDO makes heavy use of private instances much like Guild Wars; dungeons and all other areas outside towns are instanced for just your character/party/guild/whatever. I only did solo play during the beta and it was literally as smooth as single player almost the whole time; I don't have all that great a connection either, and I think the server I was on was over in Europe somewhere. Things only got a little unstable in the towns (where there can be dozens of players at any one time) and even then the latency seemed to affect the smoothness of other players' movements much more than it did my own.
There is also traditional Dungeon Master narration throughout all instanced areas, which is a nice touch that complements the beautiful scenery. Thanks to instancing you don't see countless other players lining up to run through the exact same quest so the Dungeon Master's input makes it feel like it really is you/your party going on an adventure all by yourselves.

I'm going to give it a try. What servers are everyone on?
I was in the beta, haven't signed in since because I wanted to play with people, if you want to play, let me know, we'll play
I've been putzing around in the Argonnessen server, character name's is Stolos Malaguena. Feel free to add me, I'm looking forward to some dungeon co-op.

Downloading that stuff, though I am afraid to start my MMO addiction again.
Looking forward spam Infocom quotes in an online game again.
Can't run it. Fuck, wanted to try it out so bad, just like Aion and Champions Online.
Actually I haven't checked the requirements, though I imagine that being an MMO it should try to appeal to the largest demographic as possible.

My shitty Dell Inspiron 1526 laptop is meant for work, and I can't even meet the minimum requirements. That is, or I haven't looked at them I just took a glance.

Ah yeah, integrated, that's pushing it.
I have downloaded the installer, made an account, and am getting ready to give 'er a go now tonight or tommorow. Not much into fantasy settings, but I was enjoying LOTRO until Turbine buggered it up, so maybe I will enjoy DDO. Look out for a Cleric named Anjohl :)
