Hmm will have to remember that.
For my fellow musicians: Let's connect on ReverbNation! Add me as a fan of mine (If you dig my music of course) and leave me a message you're from GOG - I'll fan you back.

It's Win/Win and perhaps we can explore each other's music a bit more than we do on GOG.

Here's my reverbnation link: http://reverbnation.com/timsmidnightmile

I generally fan back everyone who connects with me, but it'd be nice to know who's from GOG so we can keep in contact on RN as well. I prefer their messaging system to the one on here.

Thanks!

I am instrumentally challenged. The whole systematic coordination while reading and understanding a hieroglyphic paper is beyond me. I wouldn't make money off of it fast enough to warrant the time and monetary investments required in learning it, and as a hobby it wouldn't make any sense for me over other interests. It's still there on the list though.

You can learn an instrument such as the guitar without knowing how to read and write sheet music. There's a reason there's so many guitarists out there ;)

Well said and I'd like to add to that if I may.

I started playing guitar when I was 14 and quickly gave it up for a series of what I felt were insurmountable obstacles which I have thus learned in the past year since I started playing again are not only insurmountable but actually easily overcome with simple practice.

First, I can't read music, neither could Hendrix, and Don Henley can read music but he obviously can't write it. *rimshot*
Second, picking up tones. I used to think I was tone deaf but I soon realized all it takes is practice and before you know it you will come to identify them. I never thought it a million years I'd ever be able to pick out an E chord from sound but now it's easy for me.
Third, coordination. NO ONE CAN DO THE VULCAN SALUTE ON THE FIRST TRY! Keep at it; it will be painful and seem impossible at first but it will get easier and then it will become easy. You will develop the proper finger strength and flexibility and one day it will hit you how far you have come and you will shit yourself with joy.

Entire thing quoted for truth. I couldn't have said it better myself.
I've been working on learning to play guitar with Rocksmith, I'm nowhere near the point of being able to play anything, but I try to play a bit every day, and I'm definitely making progress. Can't wait to get a copy of Rocksmith 2014, which looks to be even easier to use.

Stuff like Rocksmith is the reason I won't entirely give up on Ubi. Plus, they do have a decent selection on GOG as well, which helps :)
I've been playing guitar for my own enjoyment for maybe 5-7 years now, and I still couldn't care less about open chords nor have I bothered to learn how to play by ear. While I do mostly play from tabs I'd say that technically speaking I'm somewhat skilled and I do learn songs from tabs quite fast. Guitar playing for me is a just a hobby, really. But I do enjoy it.

I also recently got around to drumming a bit, I do know I have somewhat of a good rhythm sense but I was surprised how well I could play basic stuff after 30 minutes or so without any previous experience (if you don't count years of "drumming" with feet, toes, hands, finger and sometimes teeth (sounds weird, it's like a slight sideways motion with the lower jaw, sounds odd even to me now that I actually try to describe it) to music).

Additionally I sometimes like to play some simple melodies with a piano.

I use tabs all the time myself. If I was charging people to listen to me I might feel bad about that but I'm here in the north woods just jamming for fun and the animals haven't complained so I'm good. :D

Yeah, it's rather bizarre. In order to discourage people from selling the previous edition when the new one comes out, they're letting people bring most of the content from the previous game and update it with the new stuff.
Yes. I sing, play guitar, and drums, in that order. I can keep up most of the time on bass as well. Mainly rock/metal.

acarlson412: Several years ago I lopped off the tip of my middle finger on my fretting hand, which expectedly made playing guitar much more difficult. It's mostly healed by now, but it's still pretty uncomfortable to play with. If I broke a wrist, pretty much everything I do in life I'd be unable to do anymore. :\
Never stopped this guy! In fact, in was probably the best career move he ever made.

Just got back my crowd review for one of my songs. 3.7/10 - ouch. I guess I'm not all that and a bag of chips. I'm afraid to read the reviews.

EDIT: Just read reviews. People either really like me or really hate me, the guitar was noted as having some skills, but my voice got terrible reviews, and I guess people didn't like the lyrics.

Reality in 2 minutes. Now at least I know I suck, getting unbiased reviews from people I don't know, instead of people telling me I'm great just to pacify me.

Think I'm gonna go eat some donuts to hide my shame.

As I am sure many of you can attest to, a lot of people online criticize just for the sake of it. Your guitar playing sounds well above average to me, and while my speakers can't go loud enough to hear the vocals properly, it sounds fine to me.

I would give SuperPaul 8/10.

Thanks :) I'm not done with music, just with singing for a while. It's really hard to get into a song vocally when you're in an apartment and don't want to disturb the peace or piss anyone off.
