Been reading a lot about mods in older games, especially the Baldur Gates series, and there are some really great threads in the game specific forums here that give a summary of mods available and which ones were good etc. And even a list for those of us mod noobs who would like to play the basic game as the developer intended, with mods merely fixing things or enhancing things, but not so much changing things, you know??

All that said, I'm about to embark on my next big adventure (I'm about finished Two Worlds Epic Edition after OMG I dunno how many hours) and I've decided I want it to be Morrowind, out on my 42 inch TV with my surround sound speaker system.

Are there any folks out there familiar enough with Morrowind mods to recommend the best mods for just fixing things and enhancing things, but not really changing things, as I want to experience the game mostly as the developer intended???

If you haven't played Morrowind yet, all you should consider is Morrowind Overhaul and Less Generic NPC mod. If you have played Morrowind already, add Tamriel rebuilt mod to it - it adds a MASSIVE landscape, a very, very hi-quality one, with loads of quests to do and places to explore, completely based on Elder Scrolls lore.

You're really going to want to research a UI mod that's suitable for gamepads (and maybe a gamepod compatibility mod if it's easier than using xpadder or whatever), as the UI is very mouse-centric. I don't know what's out there, though. Probably a large-text mod as well, again, assuming one exists.

I'm not big on adding a whole lot to my games so my biggest recommendation would go to Morrowind Overhaul. Also check out the free DLC's Bethesda came out with, they're small but some of them are quite useful.

Think Fenixp summed it up pretty well, but I'll also add Morrowind Rebirth is supposedly good for those that have played before, want graphical improvements, but also some new content.

First off - mods don't work with the Xbox game as far as I know. Only the PC version works with mods.

Good luck, and I'll be happy to answer any questions! It's been a while since I played MW, but with MGO 3 out I'm thinking about diving back in. If you run into a mod you can't find online I may be able to help, I have a fairly large collection somewhere on my disk.

One mod which I personally enjoyed was Living Cities of Vvardenfell. It basically puts the npcs in different places according to the time of day, giving the cities a bit more...well, life. They do teleport to their new locations at specific times of day, which you might consider too much of a a downside.

I'd suggest just installing the most basic mods (don't forget the two patches: the Unofficial Morrowind patch, and the Morrowind Code Patch) and then looking up and adding more as you find things you think should be added to the game. Chances are there's a mod for it, if it's not too major.

I love the idea of this mod, but I have quite bad experience with it - it adds a crapload of scripts and ... well Morrowind engine is not the most reliable one to handle its own scripts. Especially when there's a lot of them, it leads to severe unstability, sometimes some scripts don't trigger or trigger more at once etc. Then again the mod might have developed past that somehow and actually be in a reliable state now, in which case tell me, 'cause I wanted to use it for AGES.

The inventory in particular is very suited to a mouse. Maybe the map as well, I don't remember too well.
